I am considering the new sony laptop from best buy for 1900 but it doesn't come with the internal sprint edvo rev a card. the sz660 has it but they want 2300 and it is hard to find.

THE QUESTION IS

can this laptop be upgraded using the u720 from sprint and taking the mini pci card out, is there a way to install it in that laptop?? Does anyone know for sure because that would be SWEET. Thanks for all the great info on this board.

If this method can not be used, any other suggestions?? Thank you so much for your input

Don't know if the U720 can be taken apart and installed in the laptop (even though all it is is an internal card dressed up with a plastic housing) but as for another suggestion . . . . insert the U720 into a USB port and voila!! Instant EVDO (assuming you're in an EVDO area.)

If the unit has a WWAN antenna in it, you should be fine.

Have heard of some IBM T60's being BIOS locked against unauthorized modules, but haven't heard of other mfg's doing this.

Same with HP: BIOS blocks any card other than HP's official EV2210. I tried a 595U in a 2710p and I get the "Unathorized WWAN module, please remove".

FWIW, I just received a SZ-670N. THe mini pci slot has the Intel WiFi card in it. The Sprint EVDO 'card' is hard wired.
