|
|
This seems too regular to be coincidence that every 12 hrs I cannot move traffic back and forth across my connection. The router shows I'm connected but traffic is a dead stop even if I'm in the middle of something. I can still access the router and when I've checked its always right at 12 hrs of being connected. Sometimes simply disconnecting/reconnecting within the web interface works but other times I have to do a reboot of the entire router.

| About once every couple of weeks I have this happen -- it's just about at 12 hours for me, too. It sounds like the firmware that's in beta now might fix this silly problem. Meanwhile, I just reboot the router. |

| My aircard (KPC650) ALWAYS disconnects after 12 hours. I was wondering if there was a way around that... |

| LOL -- I've been reading too many of those "Why do I have to reboot my router 20 times a day" threads! Thanks for posting that your Kyocera aircard does the same thing, allej0ly. |

| Thanks, suasion! I've never had the card in my old laptop for 12 hours straight. FWIW, I've been real happy with my Linksys router. |

Been doing allot of testing
I've been a satellite user for 5+yrs and looking for a way out
I left the card {in laptop}run 24/7 for a week.... almost faithfully @ 12 hrs a reconnect was needed.
Tried different scenarios I left email program running and pinging programs still needed to reconnect.
I'm thrilled to find Alltel members |

| This seems like a firmware issue to me and no the beta firmware doesn't fix it. In fact, the beta firmware is junk - it locks out the remote interface after using it for a minute or two. My guess is there is something in the firmware that isn't allowing it to renew the lease on the IP. I'm thinking that Alltel probably leases IPs for a maximum of 12 hrs and after that point, a good router (I hate linksys) would sense the IP has been dropped and renew the lease. My experience with Linksys is they make junk but I was hoping this product was different. Every linksys router I've used is subject to frequent disconnects and freezing and has to be reset on a daily basis whether is cable, dsl, or now EVDO. Usually takes a half dozen firmware updates for them to get a product working mostly right. They really need to find some top notch programmers over there. |

I have a KPC650 in a D-Link DIR-450.
I don't have the 12 hour reset problem, so it is probably related to the Linksys router.
I DO have the problem that my download speeds are not as fast this past week as the week before. |

This is interesting
I don't have the KPC650 I have the PC5750 and it disconnects in router or laptop
So I wonder how many Alltel users have the reset issue or if it is area related |

Thanks
Any Alltel users tried this yet?
I know the WRT54G3G-ST was designed for Sprint
I wish I had more than this from the linksys software

Laserone, which Linksys router are you using? I have a Pantech PC5750 card for Alltel and I want to share between my laptop and desktop, I was looking at the WRT54G3G but none of the models I have seen state they are for Alltel.
Thanks |
