| Technical issues aside the huge factor hindering the April Xohm rollout was no JV agreement. Considering the financial problems Sprint is faced with at this time I don't expect to see a Xohm rollout until a firm deal for outside help can be finalized. Most likely the Xohm project is at a stalemate until more $$ can be found. |

This video looks like it was produced primarily to capture investors interest.....so.......what is the WiMax killer app that will cause everyone to stand up and take notice?
I haven't really heard Sprint tout it yet.......so the use scenario for WiMax seems to remain somewhat of an unknown....
Thoughts? |

With the help of sales around the world Intel says they will survive a US recession.
Intel Chief Executive Paul Otellini is confident increasingly faster chips will drive the use of WiMax wireless broadband.

I have a feeling if WiMAX is to survive, it'll be because Intel props it up, or basically takes it over.
You do have to admit though, it's a really great idea; laptops, phones, handheld gaming devices, cameras, MP3 players, and other electronic devices all with a built in WiMAX chip.
I just hope, if that's the case, there will be "unlimited usage" for an unlimited amount of devices (and unlimited GB of downloads) for a price at/under $60 a month. |

Barry West Sprint’s CTO and leader of the XOHM unit speaking Tuesday at the Wireless Communications Association defends the WiMAX technology. "the big announcement is that WiMax is here and it works." West conceded that launching WiMAX service has proven to be more difficult than he thought it would be. “Clearly I wanted to hit the April date,” West said. “Having missed that date, I want to make sure we come out with a robust service. Right now I’m building sites.” He didn't commit to a firm commercial launch date for XOHM, only saying it will roll out in a number of U.S. cities later this year.

| Is a WiMax financing deal coming? Maybe it’s a coincidence, but both Sprint and Clearwire are due to report first-quarter earnings on May 12. Read more here. |

| When I was on with tech the other day he told me that it was coming but still delayed. They wouldn't give him a date when it comes out, but is looking forward to it. |

The Rumor Mill is cranking out new predictions about a WiMax joint venture between Sprint, Clearwire, Comcast, Time Warner and Google. Some expect Comcast will strike a WiMax JV deal and then go to the bond market to seek the necessary cash. People close to the talks say discussions have reached advanced stages several times in recent weeks. Some report the WiMax deal could happen as early as next week.

All those companies sound [reasonably] fine....with the exception of data-capping, traffic-filtering Comcrap...erm, Comcast.
I do wish Intel would hurry up and make of their minds about whether or not they're going to fund this project. |

Rumors are also circulating involving a MAJOR investment in Xohm by such brands as Volkswagen, Minute Maid, Levi's, and Haagen Daz. Late Friday, sources within investor circles leaked that the deal, which is expected to close by late May, and will bring 4G wireless capabilities and heavily discounted broadband access to the investing companies nearly 600,000 employees. While specific terms are not being revealed at this time, it is likely that employees of the Sprint Xohm unit will receive unlimited orange juice, ice cream and jeans while being required to develop hip German accents. |

Xohm no more? According to reports Sprint will merge its broadband business with Clearwire, and the new company will keep the Clearwire name. All is speculation until we get the full story when Sprint and Clearwire publish the official press release.
