I am new on forums.
I just bought a HTC Mogul PPC 6800 from Sprint, Puerto Rico
I bought their service Phone as a Modem. Therefore I have to connect by a Connection Manager software with a USB if I do not want to do it wireless, which I rather not.
The PRL that my device has is 60608. The PRL on their last version they have for downloading is PRL 60607.
Also the last update they have in software for Connection Manager is for PPC 6700.
By any chance, anybody has information on how to manage to connect an HTC MOGUL 6800 with a USB using Phone as a Modem service from SPRINT, whether I have WM XP or VISTA in my PC?
Thank you. |

If you have PAM access, then simply follow the instructions in the Mogul user guide for Internet Sharing via USB cable. You do not have to use the Sprint Connection Manager software with the Mogul, however, you will need to install MS ActiveSync.

Thank you Tom.
What is a PAM access?
I also tried to run Active Sync but I have a new PC with OS MS Vista and when I put the CD to install Active Sync it tells me to install Flash.
Ok. when I install Flash Version 9.0.47.0 it does not work. Got into Support from Adobe Flash. I have try to follow up all troubleshooting instructions, but they do not seem to match Vista.
I have tried the same on my other PC with OS MS XP and It does not recognize Flash to install the CD that brought the Mogul 6800
If there is anything you can suggest me, I will appreciate it.

It is an option called Phone as Modem that you can add to a Sprint account just like Vision/Power Vision.
I also tried to run Active Sync but I have a new PC with OS MS Vista and when I put the CD to install Active Sync it tells me to install Flash.
With Vista, go to the Microsoft site and get Windows Mobile Device 6.1 software. It replaces ActiveSync in Vista.

Hi Tom.
I do have the service Phone as a Modem. For that one has to download the connection manager for Mogul 6800. According to the instructions.
So I did go to the sprint web page and look for the Connection Manager for Mogul 6800 for either OS MS Windows XP or OS MS Windows Vista, Phone as a Modem to be use with the USB. It does not exist for either one of them.
When you get to the section of choosing your unit in the Set Up, non of the unit is a Mogul 6800.
Do you have a Mogul too?
Thanks

Yes, I have a Mogul with PAM on my account. I followed the instructions that are documented on page 137 of the Mogul User Guide and it works like a champ.
I did not have to download and install the Sprint Connection Manager. I installed the latest version of ActiveSync from the Microsoft site for Windows XP and I also downloaded the latest version of Windows Mobile Device for Vista. I have successfully tethered my Mogul with both USB and Bluetooth on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Regards,

Well. well, well.
Master, finally I got it to work. Sprint Support Team could not tell me for thirteen days, what you just told me.
The guide that comes with the unit, has no details what so ever about this. It only has 136 pages, by the way. I look for the Adobe Reader Guide for Mogul 6800 in Sprint PCS web page and then, I found what you told me.
Now, we are talking. It is working like a champ.
Thank you so very much.

I have the Sprint Mogul and I updated Windows Mobile 6.1 original Sprint ROM. I am using Vista and am having trouble figuring out how to tether to my pc. Does the info stated earlier in this forum apply to the 6.1 update?
Thanks,
Josh |
