Hi
I got the U720 and would like to use it with multiple computers,
but at the same time
Is it possible to use it like a hub and have Internet access
in all of the computers?
I have 2 Macs and a Apple TV
Would like to have a wireless network at home
but not sure if it can be done.
Thanks a lot for your help
regards,
Charles |

Yes, you can add a Kyocera KR1 Router (with latest firmware) and easily share the U720 with all your Macs at the same time. They would hook up via Airport or Ethernet to the KR1.
You need to have us upgrade the KR1 to the latest firmware, OR we include a CD with the KR1 (if you want to do it yourself).
The U720 gives you more router options. The 595U doesn't work with the KR1 and only works with the MB6800 if you add a powered USB hub. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

The other options would be to use Windows' Internet Connection Sharing (ugh), OSX's Internet Sharing (less 'ugh'), or if you are an advanced user, a Linux or BSD based firewall.
(Note that a badly configured Internet Connection Sharing, network, or firewall setup will cause Sprint to disconnect from you like an abused puppy. You have been warned.)
The easiest, and probably most hassle free option for a non-computer person, would be a dedicated router solution like the Kyocera... |

Excellent
thanks a lot for all your help
I'll go with the Kyocera KR1 Router then.
I need the best connection as possible at home.
Is there somewhere a step by step of the setup for multiple Mac's?
Mike I'll contact you later on to order the unit
Are they available and ready to ship?
thanks a lot

Assuming the Kyocera is set up to be a DHCP server (not sure what the default is, I have never worked with one) and the Macs are already connected to an ethernet network, in the Network System Preference, just select 'DHCP' for the IP address. They'll automatically be assigned an IP address, DNS server address(es), and a network gateway (the router).
Very painless. |

Yes, they are ready to ship.
Order by 3pm CST and they ship the same day.
The U720 requires firmware RK1010, we include a CD with that firmware on it and it is pretty easy to do the firmware upgrade.
If you want us to do the upgrade, we charge $15 and can send it pre-tested and already upgraded.
FYI, if you need to add a card with service to the order, we discount the upgraded KR1 $35. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| I'm still waiting for the $99 price tag, it's getting cheaper, maybe next year! |

Hey jfulmer.....could you elaborate on this a little? We can start a new thread if necessary so as not to clutter this one. I use ICS for my Xbox and do have some occassional issues but just figured it was the nature of the beast. Perhaps there are some configurations I could tweak? Any advice or links to advice would be appreciated. Thanks! |

I documented what I found here, in heavy geek language.

I know how to 'fix' the issue with Linux, but not Windows ICS. |
