Ranger, read the complete thread below. I have had good luck increasing speed and getting lower ping times by changing the HA. Many people have good luck using the Kansas City HA addresses.

Yeah, guess I have to call sprint for my MLS code. All my cards came pre-activiated, just "locked" which was unlocked with the last 4 digits of the phone number. Since I've been using the cards for several months, think that is going to be a problem? I would really like to see them just fix the issue, but I'll work around it if I have to. Thank you very much for your information and support. I really do appreciate it

Symptoms very similar to many descriptions above. Physical location is about 5 miles NW of Chandler, TX.
Started out the day with no web access via browser or other applications (e.g., ftp, MailWasher, Thunderbird).
Was able to ping IP addresses, was able to do host name resolution, etc., but no access to any activity.
Later: blazing speed access!
Later: back to the no access. And then again: blazing speed, and again no access.
Right now I am using a proxy to gain browser access via port 8080. Spoke with 3gstore support and they said the only real remedy is time. Well, perhaps. But the REAL REMEDY is for Sprint to figure out what's wrong and get it fixed.
HELLO, SPRINT, IS ANYBODY LISTENING???
Regards,
Bill Lee |

MacBook Pro, OS X 10.4.1 and U720
The nasty has arrived in Okeechobee, FL and I cannot connect to any http for the last several days. The problem is intermittent.
However, I am able to connect to https and feed (RSS). Mail works OK.
This problem is only with the Sprint EVDO network as I can connect via wifi and an EMBARQ (Sprint) connection.
EDITED
Most interesting, I can connect to EvdoForums using Windows XP and IE 7...
RE-EDITED 5:25 AM
OK, back on the Mac and now I can connect to EvdoForums.
So, it seems the problem is intermittent.
RE-RE-EDITED 6:01 AM
Just did the Security Update available yesterday which supposedly fixes a few Safari crashing bugs. Runs smoother and the sites are opening quicker. I ran Cocktail and fixed the permissions.

I sent several emails to sprint, even some pointing to this forum, and posted on sprint's forums, and nobody will even give me the time of day. My only hope was to post here. It seemed like the problem fixed itself sometime last week, but I have great fears that it will return. Not exactly what I would call "unlimited access".

I have been having the same problem for the last few days. Access to websites stops but NNTP still works. Disconnecting and reconnecting usually gets things going again, but not always.

I have been aggrevated for a week+ now. I did try 1 other HA but same. It happens often. DNS lookups happen but any standard web page (Port 80) never completes. I did send an email to sprint today hoping they can solve the problem but I expect the usual 'Is your computer turned on' stuff.
It may be that we have to suffer until some engr. looks at failure logs on a sprint server or experiences the problem themselves. Fortunately, I have a verizon USB720 and Dlink 450 router as a backup or I would likely not have finished the post. |

This problem with Sprint and "port 80" blocking is really becoming irritating!
I first posted my concerns several days ago, and yet today, Christmas day, the d*mned system is still in the "block-go-block-go..." mode.
I don't even know an e-mail address at Sprint to b*tch to! (Can somebody post an e-dress?) And my one experience trying to get into tech support at Sprint via telephone was ... well ... about as expected.

| BillLee wrote: | | Can somebody post an e-dress? | Bill, I have used ecare2@cc.sprintpcs.com; however, I usually leave the first message through "the Email Customer Care" link in the right side menu on the Support page of the website.
As for the problem, many of us have experienced it in different markets over the past 8 months. It just to clear itself up in time. Sprint does not seem to want to acknowledge it or take responsibility for it.

Could someone please let me know where I can look to verify whether I'm having this issue of port 80 being blocked?
I've been using an AC595 plugged into a Linksys router for the last 6 months and until yesterday things were working well. Though the router shows the modem as being connected and having a signal, I cannot browse or retrieve email. After rebooting, the router would then at times show no signal and the card light would blink red. I've also tried both an omni and a yagi antenna with the card/router and have had no luck getting it to work.
When I plug the card into my laptop and hook up directly to one of the external antennas, I get a signal and I'm then able to browse ok. This would seem to indicate I'm having a issue with the router? Are the folks having the issue described in this thread using a router also? |
