I have seen it ask several times about if the recent firmware upgrade to the Alltel PC5750 has made it Rev a ready. I decided to test it today on a business trip to Columbus, OH. Alltel's maps show no coverage but Sprint shows Rev a.

I tried it today and the connection manager did connect to Sprint and it did show RevA in the lower left hand where the DO usually appears. The odd thing is that I could not get a my browser to connect but the CM showed a solid RevA connection using my PC5750 PC Card.

Just thought I would add this information.

I just rcvd my PC5750 and have been playin around for a couple hours. Speeds are okay - about 1mbps down and 100kbps up. Software is showing connection to EVDO-1X.

But, where is the firmware upgrade you mention? Is it available as a download?

Thanks for the good news/bad news, Tim! Good to know that the PC5750 is Rev A ready and that you could also roam on Sprint's Rev A (sort of!). Were you able to connect via anything else (e-mail software, ftp, VPN)? And did you ever solve your 1x problem?

Welcome to Alltel and the EvDO forum, sw5363! If your QuickLink Mobile version is 4.5.7 (1733a) on your PC5750 you're probably set, but if not, here's the link to the update: http://alltel.com/personal/cs/announcements_wireless_13.html

Alltel occasionally posts announcements on this page: http://alltel.com/personal/cs/announcements.html

hey Tim -- I wonder if this is why you were unable to get your browser to connect via Sprint yesterday: Frustrating on/off Sprint network today

Thanks for the welcome Karlyn... and the links.

I do have Version 4.5.7 (1733a) so I guess it's the latest version.

Thanks for the links and info! I'll keep a check on the announcements link.

Karlyn,

I read the thread you referenced and it seems to me that it does explain my problem. I did try e-mail too and it also would not connect. I did not try typing a website using the exact number reference avoiding a DNS server. I am still very encouraged however that my PC5750 is Rev A ready. Soon I hope/expect Florence to be Rev A so I will keep you informed.

PS. I never did get the 1X issue resolved so I forced EVDO only and it works better in the local area.
