| Been noticing the same IP range changes you guys are talking about. I haven't had disconnect issues with them thou. I changed to HDR only 2 days ago. I haven't been on 1x since. |

Welcome to the forum, thorcomm -- looks like we're developing a nice little Lynchburg users community here!
| thorcomm wrote: | | My downloads average between 400-600 kbps with Alltel EVDO. This seems a little slow - are others in the Lynchburg area getting better results? |
My normal downloads are somewhere between 1400-1600 with uploads in the mid 80s. It's not unusual for me to have downloads in the 1700-1900 range and uploads around 100. I'm east of the city, though, and apparently have a bonded T1 at my primary site.
Things are much better at my primary location this morning but I still can't connect at my biz partner's house where I normally don't have a problem (lots of trees there, too, but doesn't seem to have a huge impact).
According to a good source on another forum, there is expansion activity going on in Lynchburg but it shouldn't be causing problems. |

My download speeds are optimally 800-1100 down and 90-100 up. I am still experiencing lower signal levels than was as of 7/25 though, and my speeds are currently roughly 1/2 of that.
karlyn did you get the pm reply that i sent? |

Karlyn, thanks for the info on your download speeds.
I am glad you are getting 1mbps plus on your downloads.
I am using a Kyocera KPC650 through a D-Link router. The router shows I consistently get 70% signal strength, so I don't know what is keeping me so slow.
I am on the tower at Highway 460 and State Road 672, east of Lynchburg - and I am at the fringe of that coverage. Maybe that explains my slow connection speed.
Anyway, Hello to the other Lynchburg area members!! |

Use diagsmsi as the password (this only works if you are NOT connected, see ansar's directions on the first page of this thread).
You didn't mention what card you have -- your options may differ depending on the card you have. The options I posted (also on page 1) for the settings page are for the PC5750. |

no problem this time, as a matter of fact i gained one bar, it seems to work better now but only when i'm at the front of the house where i get a signal from a different tower than at the back. this puzzles me though. the tower i get at the back of the house is much taller and closer than the tower toward the front. after making the changes i showed one bar with evdo but transmission came through slower than dial-up. has anyone from the lynchburg crowd tried this tower on 501/meadville rd. i'm wondering, after reading all those posts about the problems in the summer, if alltel is not still working on it.
btw i am 6 miles out of halifax, va |

BigDave, Read above, It said HDR was EVDO only!!
My question is will the card keep the settings for when you use it in the KR-1?? No, That would be to good to be true.......... |

| The card will keep the HDR setting when you plug it into a router. I had set my 5750 to HDR only a while back. The tower here lost EVDO altogether, and went to 1x. I had no internet until I put the card back in my pc, and set it back to use either. |

I haven't been down to Halifax/South Boston since April, so can't help you there (I think it was all still 1x down there back then). This cell site stuff can be pretty strange. At one of my work locations I have a better signal from a site that's over five miles away even though there's another site that's only two miles away.
I know it's a pain to call customer service, but I think you should call them and see what's up with your two sites. Alltel CS now has software that allows them to see cell site problems in real time, coverage capabilities etc., which wasn't the case not too long ago. |

When I do CNTRL-D, I am only getting
Manual Activation/Mobile IP/Field Test.
Did anybody figure out what to do in this case? I'm using a UTStarcom UM150. |

On the MobileIP window, is there a checkbox for "HDR only"? I haven't played around with my card in awhile, so I can't recall. I have the 5750 though, so they might be different. I would think the MobileLink software would be the same though.
Please let us know if you get it resolved. I am curious about the 150 and will probably get one myself. |
