This thread will discuss the BlackBerry 8830 and if tethering via USB will be supported on Mac OS X. Since BlueTooth 2.0 will be included in the BlackBerry 8830, Mac users may finally have a COOL way to tether at full speeds. One issue, will be how long the battery will last when tethering via BlueTooth. Also, will the device charge via the USB cable?

Being able to tether the BB830 to a Mac could make this the killer device.

So, we got the BlackBerry 8830 and it is a very NICE device, I really like it alot and like it the best compared to all the new PDAs.

Without the appropriate drivers - it doesn't look like this will work over USB, we are still trying.

I was able to get the BlackBerry 8830 to tether to my MacBook Pro over BlueTooth.

The speeds were NOT very impressive, however, it does work:

We will continue to make tip sheets and directions for our customers on how to get all this working. It isn't very easy or intuitive, BUT it works! This post is being posted from a BlackBerry 8830 via BlueTooth from my MacBook Pro.

This was tested with a Sprint Blackberry 8830

Can you guys lend me a hand with this? I keep getting modem errors when connecting. I have tried Apple model, Null, Other/EVDO and still get similar error messages. Any tips or tricks I should know about? I'm running a new MacBook Pro with Leopard. Thanks much!
