Hey all.. I am new. I would like to know if there are any do it yourself ways to increase signal strength/lower dbm. I am on the road alot all along the east coast. I would love to slap something together that can go on my car for better reception. Any of you guys have an info? Any links to best hardware? I have searched and came up with nothing. Thanks so much!!!

I have a Ovation U720 and a new HP laptop with Vista Home Premium.

thanks!!

What does a amp do? What does a booster do? Would they help me on the road in a moving vehicle? Thanks!!

I was able to get online at will the entire trip from DC area to Biloxi, MS using the Wilson trucker antenna, Wilson amp and Linksys router. Of course, at times the speeds were 1xRTT but I don't recall a single time where the wife and kids could not get online to check email, IM, etc.

When I am in the Northern VA area I can stay online with just the tombstone shaped booster antenna and no amp. On a drive from Dulles to Manassas (~30 mins) I ran a continuous ping and only lost like 1 or 2 packets the entire way.
