|
|
I've searched the forums and can't find too much other than the last firmware which supports DynDNS.org is RK1006. RK1006 does not offically support my Merlin S720 card. I can make a connection, but the speed is lousy. If I upgrade to RK1008 or RK1010, speeds are mcuh better.
What are my options if I want to use DynDNS.org?
thanks,
John |

| You can still use DynDNS services with KR1. The change is that the router will not automatically notify DynDNS when your IP changes. This has to be done by the user manually. If you're staying in the same area, chances are you will keep your IP address for a while. It isn't static but the leases don't expire that quickly as I understand it. |

The problem is that depending on which area you are in, Verizon doesn't change the IP address, so it is considered "abuse" by dyndns to reset your IP address the same multiple times. And the earlier version of the firmware didn't detect this condition.
Kyocera disabled dyndns as an option in the firmware versions after this started to happen.
In my gps firmware, among other things, I've fixed the KR1 internal DynDNS support, so my GPS100a based on RK1010 supports DynDNS correctly (no abuse) if you go to the ddns page and enter your information correctly. |
