|
|
With just my AC595 card I was getting a signal of -93dBm with speeds of 550Kbps down and 75Kbps up.
With my Yagi antenna and amp I get a signal of -76dBm with speeds of 450Kbps down and 300Kbps up.
I thought the better the signal, the better the speeds? My upload speeds are ok, but with a signal of -76dBm, I thought I would be close to 1Mbps down and about 500Kbps up.
I have a Verizon AC595 card on EVDO Rev A. I have tried this on two computers with the same results. If anyone has experienced this or knows what might be happening please let me know. |

I thought maybe they were still working on the towers, but I called verizon tech support (Which the support was actually pretty good) and he said they have not been working on the towers.
Since I didn't have the card and laptop with me he told me when I get home to go under options in the VZAccess manager and do a manual activation. Does anyone know what that is supposed to do?!?
If that doesn't work he told me to call back and give whoever I talk to the Case # and they will already know my problem. |

| Have you tried changeing your HA? Do the ##DATA with the cursor on the go button and check to see what your HA is, mine was Georgia and I'm in TX. I changed mine to the Ft.Worth HA and started getting download speeds of 110 kBs and upload speeds of 300 kBs. I guess you can do that with your card, I'm pretty sure I saw where someone did it. Check this thread out, http://www.evdoforums.com/thread2001.html?sid=879d5fa8cb6d1a8d06628a4e7473bc16, see if it helps. |

No, it doesn't work for Verizon.
We know how to do a manual activation, the only times we have had to do a manual activation, is when a Verizon card would not activate by selecting Activate from the pull down menu. Usually, we have to do a manual activation on any card that was previously used with a different phone number and it is unsuccessful at doing the normal activation. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I can think of one thing that might happen, your signal to noise ratio may be worse with the yagi and amp.
Even though your signal level is better, it may have also incressed the noise along with the signal and if so could slow you down.
Can you/have you tried it with the yagi without the amp (as the amp could increase the noise, where the yagi alone may not)?
Thanks,
Mike |
