Then when you cant receive Evdo coverage, and cancell the service... Get a free bill for 300 dollars! well, 298.78 to be exact...
While this problem was taken care of over the phone, I still think its pretty sleazy for them to attempt to extort money from people in that fashion. The bad thing was if they hadnt been so greedy, I probably would have actually sent money. They piled on everything from an extra month of service, to the Early termination Fee, and everything in between.
Sprint may not have the best customer service in the world, But it still has Verizon beat hands down imo.. |

| Maybe they are equally sleazy. I just havent tried to discontinue Sprint, and at this point they would be within their means to charge ETF and whatever else. |

Keep in mind, that if you call an cancel, you still have the EVDO Card/modem that you purchased and until that is returned, you still owe them. Once, you return your EVDO Card/Modem, is when you will get a credit full credit.
Depends on where you order from too. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Michael,
My order was in store, purchased in store, and returned in store. I was credited for my usb720 at the time of the return. Then they went through the hour process of cancelling my service. Once I was finished, the guy thanked me for giving them a shot, and said hopefully in the future they would be able to service me. I thanked them and left.
Two weeks later, they threw the kitchen sink at me in the mail, lol. While the woman from CS was top notch, friendly and got it resolved quickly, I just think it is something Verizon does purposely to try and get an extra buck. I wonder how many have tried it for 30 days, returned the service, gotten a bill and actually paid it. I wouldnt necesarrily limit that to just Verizon either, I'm sure all companies are equally as guilty.
I'm not trying to start a rant fest on any company. Just warning folks that do partake in those 30 day Free trials. You or, at least for sure I know I pre-paid first a month of service, plus the hardware. If you've returned your equipment, there should be no outstanding balance. |

Chances are that the way billing normally works, that bill was probably on the way about the same time you canceled. I don't quite understand the beef though since you got a bill that wasn't right and you called and they took care of it.
Wish it would have been that simple for me. It took me several hours worth of calls (of course about 85% of the time was me sitting on hold/ignore . . . . ), several emails, and about 5 months to get Sprint to fix a billing error when they billed me twice (my credit card and my bank account - go figure!) for my U720.
Guess it's all relative huh. But when a mistake is made and they clear it up . . . well, that's what customer service is for isn't it? Just my 2ยข worth. |

As was pointed out, the bill may have already been generated when you returned the item.
Not mentioned was the level of experience by employees. I have encountered so many new hires at the counter that the level of information they have is limited and this may also be in the area of how to take back a return and how to credit it properly. Then there are the hidden employees in the back offices who may be just as inexperienced and lacking in expertise. Then there are the programmers who design absolutely abysmal guis using Foxpro or other software.
I design custom databases and am appalled by the lack of attention businesses place on the ability of the people they hire and then the lack of training they provide. |

The first bill was expected to be incorrect, and the salesman at the store advised me to wait untill i receieved the second bill to do anything. A full month later, after returning equipment, and cancelling the service, I received the bill with the ETF and extra month of service.
(Note, I realize that I wrote in a prior post that it was 2 weeks later I recieved the bill. We work out in the oilfield, and have limited abilility to leave, so I pick up mail every 2 weeks. I accidently said 2 weeks, instead of the actual time. My apologies there.)
I'm not really writing this because I have a "beef" with anyone. Its more of a warning to folks trying this service out, to beware of false charges.. It doesnt matter if its a new employee, bad software, or on purpose to get an extra buck, the mistake was there, and I'm probably not the only one that its happened to.
I'm thankfull CS took care of it quickly, but like you said, there are others that didnt have it so lucky. What if i had gotten a newb CS person as well that told me that I had to pay it? Lol. |
