|
|
For the past two days I've been getting this error if I try to connect my USB720 while AirPort is still turned on.
Disconnected by Peer (#266)
I called Verizon and their tech support said that this is a very rare error, and in fact the guy I spoke with had never seen it before. He said that it seems to be an issue on my computer. I noticed that disabling AirPort (I'm using a PowerBook G4 running OS X v10.4.10) allows the connection to be maintained, but then I don't have access to my printer and the rest of my network. I've seen this error before, but never has it been so constant. My cable modem has been bugging out on me lately so I've been trying to just use the EVDO instead, but now that's being weird on me too.
What happens is it'll connect as normal, but then in a short time (10 sec. to about 1 min. and a half) will suddenly disconnect and this message is in the "status" column in the VZAccess Manager's Usage window.
Has anyone seen this error before? Have any idea what it means? The VZW Tech said that he suspects some kind of "intrusive" code is at work, such as a virus, trojan or other malware. I've never had any such problem with my Macs, but I'm going to get a virus scanner and check. |

| I assume you do have internet sharing turned on between these 2 network connections? |

This has happened to me 10 times in the trial period so far (since 6/1 .
This is with both OSX 10.4.9 and after upgrading to 10.4.10.
Using the Verizon USB720 modem. |

I have a Powerbook G4 with 10.4.11... when I disable Airport, the connection works fine, but with Airport enabled, I get kicked off with the same error #266... anyone find a solution? |

I believe the simple answer is that you cannot have both EVDO and Airport connecting at the same time on the Mac.
However, if you use a router that will handle these connections so that they all come over Airport, there should be no problem.
In other words, get a router like a Cradlepoint and put your card in it and your evdo connection is now converted into a wifi connection. |

| had this problem when i was with verizon, problem ended when i switched to sprint. The issue is with internet sharing. According to verizon multiple connections is simply not allowed and disconnected if detected or suspected. Take it for what it's worth, my opinion is verizon didn't know what their talking about and didn't know why i was getting disconnected. My theory is a bug in the verizon connection manager for OSX app |
