In the last few days, I have spoken to a few Realtors who were using EVDO Data cards to help them in their day to day business.

The more I think about realtors, the more, that EVDO is a perfect match:

- MLS on the go
- pulling up property high res picture, anywhere
- updating calendars, looking up information on the go

We are working on different "success stories" to be published at EVDOinfo.com. If you are a realtor using EVDO, please post your success story here. How exactly you are using EVDO data cards, what you can do now, that you couldn't do before. Include your location and data card used.

Also, do any realtors think a StompBox type product would be useful (main office being able to see were you are, without calling you? Bring a hotspot with you that is accessible within a few blocks of were you park your car.

So, if you are a realtor who is using EVDO, please share your information here. I am guessing, that quite a few will find this thread but not want to share the success that their secret weapon brings them (why let other realtors in your area know?)

I received the following email from someone (who is a realtor) who doesn't post on EVDOforums, but his story was quite interesting, here is the email:

Quote:
I have developed an ad-hoc unified messaging service whereby my fax machine
automatically creates pdfs and emails them to me, my voice mail system
automatically creates wavs and emails them to me, and of course...my email
is all right there on my desktop. I simply created a forwarding account to
slam all that stuff out to my motion computing M1400 tablet PC, which is
about the size of an etch a sketch....running on Verizon utilizing a Novatel
V620 card (Running at 920/2400 approx this morning in suburban
Minneapolis). So now I have an exact duplicate of today's communications
on my tablet.

Of course, I can access the MLS and all of the considerable on-line tools
that I have built for my business over the years...I can run my entire 15
agent brokerage from anywhere my travels take me. I have taken listings and
uploaded them to the MLS service when I was in Milwaukee visiting
friends....no one even knew I was out of town...and now I don't ever need to
tell them, either...because I am nearly as effective with my tablet as I am
on my office network. Pretty soon I will kick it up a step by adding a
VPN....but no reason to rush...I have all my docs web posted anyhow, and can
access them from anywhere. I even do real estate contracts on my tablet
pc....because people can actually sign them using the stylus.

In short...I am totally unchained to the office. The eighty bucks a month
is incredibly cheap when put in perspective...I have eliminated the need to
be in an office completely. This all works on national access but is
painfully tedious...that's why I was so excited when I emailed you about the
surprise "lights on!" when verizon threw the switch last Sunday morning.
