Hi, I saw the sticky on the V740 but noticed it was quite old. Is there any news on compatibility with this card and the KR1? Has anyone gotten it to work at all and with Rev-A speeds?
Do we know if Kyocera plans to support this card (with a PCMCIA adapter) in the future?
I'm trying to determine if I should return the ExpressCard V740 and get the USB adapter.
Thanks! |

with the latest firmware from kyocera, the v740 does not work at all.
router options for the v740 are the topglobal mb6000 or mb6800
using either router would require the expresscard to pcmcia adapter |

| Thanks! Although the form factor is a bit weird, I don't need to stack it so that would be fine. Although if anyone has any horror stories about TopGlobal's stuff, please let me know |

I see the MB's as being compatible with my V740 from Verizon. This card is new to me, but when I look at the KR-1 (D-Link DIR-450) it doesn't really appear to be compatible with the majority of the Verizon cards. I am going to return the DIR-450 that I bought from BB and am looking for a GOOD option for my Mobile Demo Kit that I run in my hummer. I have two options...I am coming to the end of my corporate contract on my Verizon Card.....I can swap and go to Cingular in a month or so....OR..I can go ahead and buy the MB product (ouch on the price of the 6800). Looking for opinions. Is the V740 Card a REALLY GOOD CARD? Or should I punt and go to one of the Cingular Cards (means I have to wait)?
Looking for Opinions?
BTW...It looks like my ONLY options for this card are the MB6000 and MB6800...still true? Has anyone used the 6000? I don't like the fact it does NOT have an external antenna. Thoughts?
Thanks!

While Cingular has the potential to go faster than EVDO, it does not, in fact as many iPhone users are discovering it is not EVDO Rev A speed.
I snicker a bit when I see the guy in the hole in AT&T's add saying the internet can't hide from AT&T any more... BEEP BEEP snail coming through! Dung Beetles on the way! |

Yeah...so the iPhone is sitting on the Edge network, and not the GSM 3G network so it is slow. Grin..I know..I have one of those over-priced surfing slugs! GRIN
Big Question is...is this V740 supposed the be the cat's meow? Is this a great card that is supposed to have great speeds? Do I take the plunge and get the MB6800 and just drive on? is it worth it? Is this card just too new for any of the manufactures to really support it yet?
OR is there a better (and more router-compatible) card available through Cingular/ATT? My bud that turned me on to the 3G M-router has a Cingular card and it was plug and play...everything works and works well.
Part of it is too..the fact that I am impatient....I want this thing up and working! GRIN but I am close to the end of my contract so...if I "Should" switch to 3G GSM anyway..well.....TOO many choices!
