[Admin: It was released December 5, 2005]

For those waiting for the Motorola Razr (CDMA Based) for Verizon's network, it looks like it is happening in September

http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000143053513/

It looks like there are MANY users waiting for the Razr to be used on Verizon's network..

Anyone used a Razr on other networks?

How is the battery life? Standby. Looks like the specs are 200 minutes talk and 200 hours standby, how about the real world times?

What did you like about the Razr? What don't you like.

My wife really wants one, so I am doing the research now Smile

I own the RAZR with service from T-mobile. I love the phone. The reception on this phone exceeds other phones I own. The GSM version of the RAZR has bluetooth, and I understand the CDMA version will not. However, I also own a V710 under Verizon, which has blue tooth. I can talk to my computer with the RAZR to move pictures, ringtones, wallpapers, and other files using bluetooth. The V710 does not allow me to do this. Why? Because Verizon wants me to use their services at extra cost to do these functions, and there fore disabled the ability to move files to and from the phone with bluetooth. They have disabled functions on several phones in order to force you to pay them for certain services. My V710 is more powerful than my RAZR, feature wise, yet the RAZR is able to do more because features on the V710 are disabled. That is why as my contract ends at the end of this month, I am cancelling my final account with Verizon and moving it to T-mobile, just as I did with two others earlier. If you want Verizon's service, don't bother buying a feature rich phone from them, because any features that contradict their "business model" will be disabled or crippled.

I am aware that Verizon has done that and pissed off a lot of people in the past. If you take a look at some of the newer phones, they are not doing that any more (e.g. i730, xv6600).

We will have to wait and see if the Razr or other new phones are crippled or not. Apparently, the higher end Pocket PCs and PDAs are not crippled.

Thanks again for the Razr post.

Any idea on release date for verizon evdo razr? It was rumored in August that it would release in Sept, but now in Oct there are rumors saying November. This might actually be a cool phone to attach to the back of my OQO because it is somewhat thin. 0.6 inches. Just a thought, but then I am wondering if a PPC would give better evdo speed to the OQO since they have a 500+mhz processor on them with ram and all that. Best setup?

I hear the RAZR has the same PIM as all other Moto phones, i.e., pretty bad. Want to look up a contact by name? You can only search by the first letter. If you only have a couple dozen contacts, this is probably OK.

I'm thinking of velcroing the razr to the back of my oqo to feed the evdo into it. Hey, I need wireless evdo...lol

Seriously Cool

So, I read today on engadget that Verizon was releasing the RAZR V3c on October 28th. I'm just wondering what the chances are for using evdo via bluetooth or usb to my xp computer.

I am pretty sure it has evdo, but don't know about whether it will work or not.

Hmmm, this isn't true. There are high end verizon phones that transfer evdo to a PC. The i730 is one example.

I'm kinda confused by your reply? Are you just repeating a TOS or what?

I have a pc card and plan to keep that plan for evdo via the KR1, and if I could have the RAZR attached to the back of the oqo then that would work for me too.

Anyway, this isn't the easiest info to find out prior to release date, so I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Might want to wait for the V3x as it has way mo betta specs, more talktime and a microSD slot. GSM first but maybe a CDMA will come too.
