I couldn't get this working with Sprint U720 and Windows XP. Any ideas?
I successfully set sharing on the Sprint Connection in Network Connections and set it up to use my Wireless Connection.
I saw that it changed my wireless to be a static ip of 192.168.0.1.
I added a preferred wireless ad-hoc network called "parrot" (don't ask).
I rebooted but had a very hard time getting Windows to connect to its own Ad-Hoc network (which is what I think I'm supposed to be doing). I let it sit for a few minutes but got nothing. Once, right in the beginning it actually did connect, and I was able to connect to it from my other laptop (Vista), but only succeeded in getting a 169.254... address which means that it wasn't getting DHCP from the other laptop.
Can anyone help me? Am I doing something wrong? Does this not work with Sprint?

Can you elaborate?
I've been trying since JUNE to make this work reliably.
Oh, I've got Windows ICS sharing out the EVDO connection no problem. The problem is, its an unmanned location with remote access software. Above once a month after a automatic reboot, the verizon client gets "stuck" waiting for the end user to click "ok" to update the coverage are info. At that point, I loose connectivity to the machine until I drive out to the site, bump the mouse, and click "OK", at which point I'm good to go for another month.
I have a thread on the subject (but lost it), and inquired in a couple others. There *has* to be a way of disabling this update!

Sure. You don't have to use the Verizon client at all to connect to EVDO. When you install the Verizon client (Sprint's too), a DUN connection also gets installed (it should be in the Network Connections window). Instead of setting Windows to share the Verizon client connection, set it to share the DUN connection and make the DUN connection the default. Also, go through the options in the DUN connection and set it to re-dial, and connect on demand (might be slightly different wording). If all goes well, everything will work as before, and DUN will never ask you to hit a key. On top of that, you don't even have to be logged in to your remote machine because DUN can connect as a service. The remote machine has to be powered on of course, but you can leave it at the login screen. This is how I had my server set up before I switched back to my DIR-450.
Drawbacks? No PRL update support (could be a good thing), no signal level indicator, no GPS, etc. Basically, using DUN makes your EVDO modem just like any other dumb old dial-up modem: just much faster and no wires.

YOU ROCK!
I've been after that info for MONTHS now. That is EXACTLY what I needed to know.
I'll make the appropriate changes, and in the future, *when* I am out there, I will manually do the PRL update. Its just up to now, the darn thing does it on its own about once a month on a reboot, which would be fine, but it sits there waiting on the end user to lick "OK" to do the update process before it will actually connect.

| I don't suppose anyone has any idea why my XP pro machine with SP2 would be cutting off all outgoing ICS traffic every 5 minutes exactly would they? |

I have been looking around the site for a while on how to share EVDO on a Mac with Windows machines via wifi/bluetooth. This thread is as close as I've been to finding anything. Does anyone know of any existing info regarding this on this forum? If not, does anyone have any experience sharing EVDO from a Mac?
any help/direction would be appreciated!
