Yes, it is less just to cancel it. But, the entire ETF would be due all at once. Sad If it wasn't for that, I would have given up after the second or third month. Sad

I live out in the boonies, cows out-number humans by an order of magnitude, and most of the humans in the area don't use computers. I never really thought about it until some of the responces to this thread, but Verizon doesn't have much need to terminate me.

I probably will bite the bullet and pay the ETF.

It's just MESSED UP that I switched providers because of the possibility of early termination, and now I can't get terminated now matter how hard I try.

Irony and Cows. I should have moved someplace else.

If that's all it is .. loan it to someone who lives in a congested area and tell them to go nappy!

I too live out in the boonies, but Verizon is the only high speed (besides satellite) internet I can get. I went ahead and bought a KR1 router and USB720 from 3gstore.com, and hopefully my service will not get terminated since there aren't a lot of people in my area that have, or even know about, EVDO. Only time will tell!!

Before I continue with my message, I must state that I have never had any actual problem with Verizon or its service (other than the bandwidth reporting bug). I've only once needed to call them, they were as polite and knowledgeable as could be expected. I've only once needed to use their repair center (dead phone, my fault, they don't like concrete), and they were fast and friendly and even allowed it to be "under warrantee". My EVDO service from them has been superb, and even a little faster than my new EVDO service.

As of today, I bit the bullet and canceled. No pro-rated ETF, it was the full $175. I still have my voice phone with them, as my new EVDO carrier has no incentive to move my voice service, let alone an incentive that would cover another ETF.

As I mentioned in prior messages, their bandwidth reporting is way off when used normally, claiming about 2X actual usage. Under heavy/excessive usage, it's pretty accurate. Couple that with the threat of termination for excessive usage, things were very stressful for me (and especially my family), so I wanted out.

I tried for what seems to be forever to get booted, and over the past two months even did things like loan it to people with kids in heavily populated areas. I *know* they used it heavily, I monitored the usage daily.

Anyway, I would have terminated the new one instead if not for the fact that Verizon could change their mind at any moment. I can no longer afford TWO evdo services, and while the ETF hurts, it only hurts once.

As I mentioned, the Verizon service was slightly faster for me, and more stable. I Just couldn't take the stress.

I can only assume that, at least for now (and that's the problem), Verizon is "looking the other way" regarding bandwidth usage, in at least two states.

Or maybe they knew I wanted to cancel and wanted my ETF in a really big way.

Again, I have no actual problem with Verizon service or their people. I wish they had different policies, or that they at least would have fixed their bandwidth reporting bug. But the service itself has been both fast and reliable, even when I was abusing it Beyond the point of sanity.

I can't understand all your stress. Why you didn't just wait and see if you got terminated or not is beyond me. If you did then no big deal and no ETF. Then you could have set up the other service. You might have been without EVDO for what, a couple of hours? But then I guess I understand worrying about that mark on your permanent record . . . . . . . . Wink

At least now you will be able to sleep at night. Thanks for the humorous posts. It's been real!!!! Rolling Eyes Very Happy

No Kidding- very funnee posts. I have a KR1 set up with my EV and have 3 wireless repeaters in various areas of my home. I now share my conenction with 3 neighbors (they purchased and each give me a bottle of red wine every month for the "electricity" the repeaters use. Only dial up or Sat here and the speeds are waaaayyyy better. They have agreed not to stream bewteen 5pm and 11pm due to congestion. It is working out VERY well and I am at 7-10Gigs on VZW. I beleive there are ways to set my KR1 to limit access and speed. If I have to, I will play with that some other time. No letter and no comment. I am going to investigate the V720 this week... hope it works with my KR1 as well as my 620

VZW kicked me out about a year ago after one month of > 5 gig usage, and as Sprint did not have service in my area I acuired a new VZW account and became a "good boy" (limiting my usage). Now Sprint has revison A in my area and I like you have been purposely going past the 5 gig limit for about 3 months to get kicked out. I have not received a letter! Could it be that now that they have compition, the limit is not such a big concern to them? BTW Sprint is $15/month cheaper.

My wife and I have been on the 5750 aircard for less than an month and 2 nights ago, Rev A came online! (I was on 1X and now Evdo). I am getting 1 MB and it KICKS A$$!! The limit worries me, but if they want to cancel me later on, "f" them. I got Sprint trucks in my area to, and I checked their map, my area must be hot because their service is almost on me. I am going to go and use as I see fit. I think Verizon is seeing their limit is sh** and they are loosing customers to Sprint. I think the FCC should step in and stop this two faced advertising, but oh well.

So has there been any updates on this? Has anyone tried getting knocked off and then has or hasnt? I'm hovering into 10GB space now as I gave my card to some family with kids and they've been gaming and using it alot. I saw a letter in the mail from Verizon the other day and I thought this is it, but it was a letter to try to get me to renew on the voice plan I have. Evil or Very Mad

To the guy who canceled and paid, have you tried to sell your card on eBay? I think you could get some of the $175 back.

Cheers

I must admit. I have tried to go over the 5 Gig for the past 2 months. (including downloading many huge files over and over ). The metal in my V620 started to turn red (j/k). Jeesh, I have streamed and everything, others are happily using my card through my KR1 and still the best I can do is 3+. I guess there must be some heavy users inorder to push over the 5. I will keep trying and see if I hit the target and I get a letter. Twisted Evil

I was in a Michigan VZ depot last week and the dude there said VZ does not enforce it unless they for some reason want to. He was aware of Sprint's deal and he is certain that VZ is laying low on this.

Well, I'm going to find out this month...
I purchased a game off Steam and left my EVDO on all night.
I guess I didn't realize I would be streaming 3 Gig.
That plus my normal traffic has me over the limit with a week to go...

Now how can I stay connected all night, but right now I'm getting kicked off every ten minutes? Confused
