Use the right hardware and problems are minimized

I have the recurrent feeling, when reading so many posts here about conflicts, that people are determined to jam square pegs into round holes. Examples are discussions of a router not known to support a modem that is fiddled with endlessly to no avail, or when a router known to NOT support a specific card is faulted for that--so much time spent on problems that need not to have happened at all.

I have had a great EVDO experience by simply pairing the right device, computer, and router. It wasn't brain surgery to figure out if they'd work; this is public info on this site and on the manufacturers' site.

Just a shout-out for doing decent research before buying and then buying the stuff that will work. Obviously, this site and the 3G Store people are great resources for both steps in that process.

the problem sometimes is that they don't do the research upfront, and buy the squarepeg/roundhole combo, and then like so many... just try it. and when it doesn't work... NOW they do the research... and by that time they are possibly beyond the return/trial timeframe for their purchases and are faced with trying to hack it together or worse, confess to their significant other that they made a stupid mistake and wasted a lot of money.
