I never seemed to read the results of this? Did the AirCard 595U end up working with Macs?
Thanks |

I bought the U595 and was encouraged by the box which promised Mac OS X support (including a little white card inside). Hours and hours of wasted time later -- no go. The guys on this forum can possibly help you get it working for a fee. The Sprint level 2 and team lead support personnel in Oklahoma City worked for hours trying to get the U595 to work with their lab Powerbook. No go for them or for me.
I returned the U595 and got a Sierra U720. After getting the WWAN drivers from Apple, it was totally sweet. My Macbook Pro recognized the modem immediately and has worked flawlessly from the first moment. No special drivers or any other software. No Internet Connect "modem menu" hell either..

You're referring to the USB modem, right?
If so, overall how do you like it?
I'm pulling the trigger on the new revision, once ol' "Uncle Steve" lets it fly, and I really need a card. While MBP's have the express/34 slot, USB would be my preference. |

I am talking about the U720 USB modem. The strange thing is that (to get enough power), this modem uses TWO USB connections. You might be able to get it to work with one USB port. I can try it if someone wants. I am using a Macbook Pro 17 (which has an extra, third USB port).
Overall.. I love it. Works very very well.
Pulling the trigger on what? A new Macbook Pro?
I decided not to wait. I got mine new with a $150 rebate from Amazon without sales taxes, or shipping. If Steve comes out with a new model, expect the rebates to disappear for a while. If its a major update, expect price increases too. Wasn't so long ago, a Powerbook 17 was $3299.
Good luck! |

Our internal testing turned up quite a few issues with use on OSX. including, among other things... being the first sprint device to come along in a long time to cause a kernel panic! the review process was unavoidably interrupted, but we should get one online soon.
For now, you get just my personal opinion instead of an official opinion from 3gstore: Why not go with a sure thing, rather than be guinea pig with the latest/greatest?
