I came across this post concerning Rev-A embedded cards on the thinkpad forum:
forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=293020&highlight=verizon#293020
I have been searching for a laptop which would have embeded Rev-A. T61 and X61 look even better after hearing this good news. I currently use a novatel 720 usb modem. Anyone have info on HP using Rev-A in their business notebooks. I believe that the NC6320 and nv6400 are still Rev 0.[/url] |

HP has added several business notebooks to their line of embedded broadband ev-do notebooks. The problem is, they are all still Rev. 0! Up till now, only the nc 6320 and nc6400 were embedded with evdo. Now, Hp has added 6501b, 6515b, 6710b, 6715b to their line of embedded laptops. All these brand new laptops are apparently still Rev. 0! I called the HP rep and he said that their max download rate was 2.4 mbps. (this is still Rev. 0) Hp is definitely way behind in this regard. The problem with Rev. 0 apparently is that it is not upgradeable. Lenovo's new T61 and X61 all have Rev. A (3.2mbps) and are apparently upgradeable to Rev. B, C, etc.
I really like the HP business line, but they are way behind in cutting edge evdo technology! I believe that all new laptops should have Rev. A.
I still haven't decided which notebook I will buy. |

HP unveiled a slew of new business notebook in Shanghai China. The new notebooks include the HP Compaq 2510p, HP Compaq 6510b, HP Compaq 6710b, HP Compaq 6910p, HP Compaq 8510 series and HP Compaq 8710 series. All incorporate the new Intel Centrino Pro technology for ease of remote management and improved security.
Six of the seven new notebooks will offer built-in mobile broadband connection options. HP currently offers CDMA 1xEV-DO technology with Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess service or UMTS/HSDPA technology with AT&T's BroadbandConnect network in the United States. Also, the new ultra-light notebooks (2710 and 2510p support CDMA 1xEV-DO Revision A(1) for faster EV-DO connection speeds where available. |
