Ok so I recently found of that Rev A Sprint EVDO is available in my area. We can't get Cable/DSL in my area, so this is my only option other than dial up. I'm a gamer and I would like to use Ventrilo/TS with my games. Will it lag? Also... really important.. I want to share connection with my laptop from desktop or vise versa. After doing some research on here, it seems like the U720 USB modem is a good option. Could I just put the USB modem into my desktop computer and set up an ethernet to share connection with laptop? Or does the USB have to be in the laptop for the EVDO to work? Then I could share connection to the desktop comp?

Thanks in advance.

You can share your U720 in your desktop with your laptop over ethernet. I have a U720 in my server and share it with 3 workstations. Works fine (or as fine as possible when using ICS; it can be a bit quirky).

As to lag, there will be some. EVDO is not anywhere near as low latency as cable or DSL. And it tends to fluctuate a fair bit too. Having said that, many people here have reported successfully playing various online games using EVDO. My own kids do as well. They complain a bit about the lag in Counterstrike Source, but it's still playable much of the time.

Team Speak and Vent work fine for me when I'm playing WoW.

My lag is usually around 300 to 350 in raids and I have no issues
(it's alot better than the 1300ms I was getting on Direcway) Smile

I usually ping around 120 in Counter Strike Source on a Rev A. network.

I have a 595U and I play EQ2 and LOTR without much problem.

What frequency does EVDO ride?
