I'm borrowing my friend's Sprint EVDO-A USB U720 plug for the weekend. We set it up today and tested the speeds. On his Dell XPS 1710 laptop, he gets 1.5 Mbit download. MY Dell XPS 1710 laptop, on the other hand, get 500Kbps download.
What do I do?
Thanks! |

| Get a program like DrTCP and change the RWIN to something at or near 65336. |

Did this. Doesn't help.
Not that it matters. For the card to show up in the list of cards in DRTCP it has to be a network card (NDIS has to be on). My friend's isn't set up that way. |

| It shouldn't matter, as it affects your TCP stack globally (as far as i'm aware). You do have to reboot after making the change btw, as it is a registry key. |

Well in either case, I set the value anyway and have rebooted twice. I'm currently running without the Spring connection manager software installed and it's up to 700Kbps. About half what my bud's is doing. Ping time is 2-400 ms. |

Try placing yours in the same spot and the same orientation as he did. It isn't unusual to have 'hot spots' but that doesn't mean you will have the same result.
Step 2 would be to check to see what applications you both have/had running and then your settings. And think about virus software and how it might affect your results. |

| Yeah, I uninstalled the company's copy of SAV hoping that I could add something to the litany of reasons not to install symantec apps. No avail. 700kbps is the upper limit so far. :-\ |
