I am having really intresting problems. I am new to EVDO and have been browsing these forums for about a week now, and have tried.. DRTCP, TCPOptimizer, Walters regedit tweak, and pretty much everything I can find.

I am currently running the U-720 in my desktop running at Rev-0. Also I have an external Omni Antenna outside my window and my connection varies from -85dBm all the way up to -105dBm... it stays pretty regular at 3-4 bars but drops to none periodicly. When I enable Rev-A my connection stays around -100, so I have it set to stay in Rev-0. My first question. Does this sound like a situation that an amplifier may help with, to get Rev-A or a more consistant Rev-O?

Now what is really annoying me, it does not seem to matter what my signal strength is, I get between 70-120 on download tests. I see people with less signal get more. Is there anything that can be done for this? I have tried many things here on the forums but maybe I am missing something.

I also downloaded and installed the newest PRL, which actually made it worse for me, cause it would switch to Rev-A to easily. So that is back. I have changed my modem max bps up to 921600 and have tried a few of the slower ones, but that doesn't seem to do a whole lot.

Any help or advice is MUCH appreciated!

I don't see how you force rev-0. I think you may be setting it to force the older network (i forget the name), which is at about those speeds.

I would set it to evdo only, which I know you can do in the connection manager settings and then move the u720 to different locations trying to get the best signal, sometimes moving it just a few inches can make a huge difference.

Under ##msl you can enable EVDO Rev-A..so I just clicked the check so it won't be enabled. But, it seems it isn't improving anything, so I am going to go and set it back.

What kind of latency to google do you have when you are supposedly connected to Rev0?
My guess is by unchecking that you are disabling EVDO entirely, and therefore have a stronger 1xRTT signal (to a closer, non EVDO tower?). Those speeds are inline with 1xRTT.

I am not sure on how to ping google. But on Speedtest.net I adverage around 400 ping, with my DL around 150-250, and upload around 50-100. I am thinking it maybe load at the tower. Another question I have.. what is the home tower. Mine is located in Chicago, and I live in Michigan..supposedly they have a tower close by me now..so does my signal get carried through dif towers to my HA?.. or is it actually the Chicago tower that i am getting signal from.

My connection seems better today for unknown reasons though..I got up this morning and was in the 600 range.. but now its down to 150 and I have 5 bars rev-o going right now. So, maybe its maintanance or load is what I am thinking now. Thanks all for the quick responce and the patients with me Smile
