Hello from Niagara Falls. I am taking a small family vacation, we drove to Niagara Falls and we had something in the car called the StompBox, it allows us to have a WiFi hotspot IN THE CAR, while driving. Also, it allows people to visit a web page to see our real time location via Google maps (it is very cool). We will be returning home on Monday and publishing the URL to watch us make the trip home. I may even add a web cam to give you a view out the window (updated every 5 minutes or so).

When connecting via the web page (to be provided Monday), you are actually connecting to our car (StompBox), getting the exact location via GPS and then mapping it out via Google Maps.

Check back to this thread on Monday, we will be on the road from 7am - 6pm or so. We had 15 people watching us on the way up, lets see what happens when we get more traffic on the way home.

BTW, here is the view from the hotel Smile

We are taking the southern (US) route home tomorrow, should be able to track us most of the way home. I will post the URL once we are on the road and will appreciate feedback to this thread. Thanks (see you tomorrow).

Canadian side is much better. I thought so from the picture you posted. Much shorter back to Chicago through Canada , If you do take QEW to I believe 403 to 401 to 406 cross at Port Huron , Save you a lot of miles and you can drive really fast on Canadian highways. Everyone goes at least 80

Maximum - Do you mean everyone goes at 80mph [which would be an astounding 130 kph - kilometers per hour!!!] or everyone goes at 80kph [which would be a measly 50 mph - nothing to write home about....]

OK, we are finally on the road, hopefully, all should be fine now. You can track us at:

http://www.EVDOinfo.com/Stompbox/

Not sure how the load will be if 100's of people request GPS maps at the same time, we will soon find out. You can always click on "Last Location" and that will NOT connect to our car.

Post your results here. Thanks.

BTW, Level 10 is the only one that doesn't auto refresh - use that one, to use Satellite views - as it will not

Just added a webcam looking out the front window, it gets updated every 5 minutes. If you are currently watching, reload the page to see the webcam option.

Looks like Google Maps only allows so many hits before it stops working. We are getting a ton of traffic on this page, that is the problem.

Should be OK now. I generated a new Google Map API and increased the auto refresh and removed all the zoom levels.
