|
|
Hello all, I just started useing a merlin s720 with my dell xps m170 labtop and for the most part is works great. The problem is whenever i connect to a game server I.E world of warcraft servers, i get disconnected after a few seconds. There is no error reported but in the alert log is does say connection failure: the modem is already in use or not configured properly. Is there anything i need to do to configure it differently?
My firmware version is: 135.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris |

When i get into game everything goes great then all of a sudden I lose connection, only it isnt thew connection it gives me an error that my Novatel EVDO usb720 is not installed or found. so I shut the VZ manager down and restart and sure enough it starts again and keeps repeating after 3-5 minutes of game play.
Can someone help? |

I had to play in Ndis mode. DO NOT try to play with the Vzw manager running. It will always crash. Switching to Ndis mode solved that issue for me. |

| What is Ndis? I saw the SMNDISS in the folder of the VZA software but it only opened a terminal then closed it right after. I'm asking because I'm trying to game also and get the same crap. Thanks. |

I'm not at home currently, so can't give specific details, but I believe the general idea is that you want to connect without starting the Sprint/Verizon connection manager. I've done this by connection via the Windows Control Panel, Network and Dialup Connections, find your wireless connection in the list, right-click, pick connect.
Ndis is something I've only heard in reference to Sprint cards, but could be mistaken. I believe it is a setting you make in the connection manager to have the card connect automatically when any application tries to access the internet. Same idea basically, get connected without running the 'official' connection application. |

Wild Guess: Verizon's TOS does not permit game playing. It is possible they are black listing the domain or some other form of service break. I would first verify this possibility of verify that it is not true before spending a lot of time troubleshooting, etc.
Note the intro "Wild Guess"... |

Hey! Ty for the advice! Sorry, I, didnt get back sooner but as you can tell it did work and I have been bf2ing it since my last reply. For those who do not know where to turn on the feature of the Verizon Connection Manager, then, Do as follows:
1. open up the Verizon Connection Manager.
2. then open up "Tools".
3, then "Preferences".
4. Then Open up the WWAN Tab( should already be open)Check the box "NDIS"
5. Then close it.
6. reopen it and make sure it stayed checked. ( I had to open and check it a couple of times for it to stay but that could be because of my pointer sensitvity too. )
7. You can now shut Down The Verizon Connection Manager too, and you will still be connected
Your set Enjoy. For those of you with a bad connection I purchased there Antenae and man it does help a bit more.
Goodluck!! |
