Ok, this just cropped up within the past few days:

basically, whenever I take my broadband card out, and put it back in (I press the button to disconnect first), then insert the card and connect again, the router will work fine for a minute or two, then drop the connection, then be fine for a minute or two, then drop it again.

Then, if I manually go over and press the button, the blue button will just flash forever (if you unplug it during this time, it'll erase all of your router's configurations, too)...so you have to press the reset button.

It also does the drop/reconnect thing if I log into the router and disconnect, then reconnect later.

Thus, I'm wondering, is my router faulty? If so, will Spring replace it free of charge?

Hi Fox,
I am not a sprint service tech nor an expert of any kind but I will share my thoughts with you anyway.

I guess you have set your card to EVDO only to prevent it from switching between 1xRTT and EVDO which can cause disconnects.

If your card works perfectly in your laptop but behaves as described when in your router only then I would suspect a faulty router. Especially if you have reset your router to factory defaults and see same behavior.

By the symptoms you describe it is almost as if the router is attempting to update something (firmware or prl) then resetting connection in some kinda loop. I think their is an automatic PRL update setting in the Cards but I am not aware of a router that automatically updates it's firmware.

If you could borrow (a very good friends ... Check that maybe a not so good friends) router to check behavior. I believe if the router is less than 90 days old you can get a RA from Linksys or DLink and get replacement.

I wish I could offer better advice.

yeah, it works fine in the laptop, and my card is set to EVDO only.

Either way, there's no one around (probably not even in the entire county, no joke), that has one of these routers, so I don't think finding someone else's router to test with would be feasible.

Either way, perhaps I should just call Sprint and get them to send me a replacement.

I might also add that my router's firmware is the most recent firmware available...I'm not 100% sure about the PRL though.

Fox - when I got my router I think I did the same thing once. Then I read the manual and it said to always power of the router before inserting/removing the EVDO card... hope that you didn't fry the card/router. Sad

really? That's strange; it makes me wonder what in the heck the button on the side was even put there for.
