Hey techheads, (and I mean that lovingly)

I had a problem while installing and connecting the Sprint U720 via my USB port (since my PC slot was broken) on an older Compaq Presario Notebook a while back, and am just cuious if anyone else has experienced something similar or has any words of wisdom. Ever since installing the software, and connecting the device (all as noted in instructions) my USB port has not worked.
Here is what I have tried to resolve this (not necessarily in order);
1. Connect Other USB devices (flash drives, mouse, etc. none work)
2. Restart related services
3. Re-install operating system (Windows XP)
4. Un-install Sprint (novatel) device software

Any other ideas? I called Sprint and worked through their 3 levels of help, but none of them had heard of this issue before. I am wondering if the USB didn't get shorted out or something? If anyone has any other ideas or options to try I am all ears! This USB is my last resort for a wireless connection...so I would like to get it operational!

THANKS!!!

Compaq huh? Sounds to me like your notebook's USB interface may have fried. First thing to do is reboot to the BIOS setup and make sure the onboard USB is still enabled. If it is, then it sounds like you need to be looking for a new notebook or a USB -> PCMCIA adapter. If all else fails, you could go with a KR1 router.
