Hello,

A link to our EVDOforums.com Rules is now listed on the signup before you register at EVDOforums.com.

We have a great group of sales & support guys working here, that only support OUR customers, while we do make sure that we try to answer posts from those that purchased from us on EVDOforums, we do not get to answering all questions.

From one point of view, I completely understand Alex’s frustration. He (and others employees here), answer forum posts at all hours (sometimes 1-2am) and never ask, “are you a customer”, before answering a post. Everyone that works here pretty much does that.

I can also tell you that publishing a private message/email to a public forum isn’t very cool.

We encourage everyone to continue sharing up here on EVDOforums.com within our forum rules.

You are correct that Revenue is made from advertising, which is why the top, bottom and right of every page has a link to items at our store.

BTW, you are not going to get banned, all we ask, is that since you did get “something” from all the posters up here, next time, there is a newbie question, please post an answer and give as you have received.

i've been answering emails and calls, otherwise i'd have gotten back to this thread quicker.

i'll explain my side, for those that care.

after seeing that SoundsGood was clearly not ordering from us, i sent him a PM that said:

Quote:
the forums are a service of evdoinfo.com and 3gstore.com, a sprint master agent who provides superior customer and tech support.

why would you choose not to sign up through 3gstore.com?

just curious.

it was clear from his reply, that he knew all along where he was going to get his sprint service.

where a forum user buys his service is their prerogative, and i don't argue that point.

my reply to him was how i felt about the matter. i was irate.

i often spend hours on this forum (my choice) to help anyone and everyone i can. check my post history, and you'll see me up at all hours of the night, because i know a lot of people only have the middle of the night to do their research.

i don't pre-qualify a person to decide who i help, but i certainly expect that if the decision where to buy evdo products or services has NOT YET been made by whomever i am helping, that they would consider rewarding my efforts (if in fact i helped them), by making their purchase through my employer, the host of this forum.

if anyone feels like i don't have a right or reason to be irate when someone who clearly has no intention of buying from 3gstore, uses this forum to get support that they COULD NOT GET from the vendor they intend on buying from... then we simply have a difference of opinion, and its likely not to be the last time that happens.

SoundsGood did do one bit of good for us though. As a result of my PM exchange, I realized that we were not obvious enough about the fact that this forum is owned and operated by 3gstore, nor were we asking new registrants to review our forum rules before signing up. Mike has changed that.

I think this is going to become more and more of an issue for well infomed Sprint buyers as Sprint dealers (as far as I know) can't sell the Sprint Employee Referal Offer plans even though they are available to the general public.

Thus, the OP is forced to choose between paying $10/month less for life of the accout or buying from a better source that can provide better service.

Because of my affiliations with other businesses here, I have had a limited account from almost square 1. However, that does not dis-suade me from using these forums and helping out others as much as I can. Due to the fact that this is a store, I believe it would be in the best interest of 3ginfo.com to create another forum SOLELY for the purpose of NON-CUSTOMERS. Otherwise, conflicts of interest, and frustrated employees become a large concern; as we have seen with this thread. Of course, for me mentioning this, I will more or less likely be banned, but thats fine. The fact of the matter is, I still help, with no perogative.

Rewarding your efforts? What did you do? I came to this forum for one single reason -- to get opinions FROM THE MEMBERS on which is the better carrier for my situation... Sprint or Cingular. I did NOT ask YOU anything. YOU decided to pm ME to ask why I was not buying from you. I told you why, and you didn't like my answer. I'm sorry if you can't understand why I'd prefer saving $120 per year, every year... but oh well.

Alex, I was looking for opinions on which provider to use. Not support -- opinions. Did you expect me to call the vendor and ask them which provider I should use? Gee, I wonder what their reply would be. Hmmm...

I notice that it says on the top of every page: "EVDOforums.com - Discussion forum for EVDO users." ... Perhaps that should be changed.

I've actually experienced both and ended up with sprint. I get RevA speeds in 95% of the places I've traveled to so far. Though all around NYC that's not really saying much. It's pretty damn quick and i was able to play world of warcraft in the back of a cab from midtown manhattan to brooklyn with very little issues.

3G is just as fast but coverage is very limited. And Cingular is very slow at rolling out more 3G coverage. I ended up EDGE at a lot of places and it just plain sucks. Also sprint is cheaper per month.

I agree this is something that EVDOinfo.com will need to address because EVDO is going to be enormously popular and consequently more and more people are going to be attracted to this site.

Wow.... I have to say, I agree with sounds good. There should be no motives or anything like that, and, he was just looking for opinions. Shocked
