Signal Strength Flutter

I have a trucker+amplifier setup that is working pretty well for me (I am in an Unknown Signal Strength area on Sprints coverage maps), but I was wondering if everyone sees the strength flutter. My best reading so far is -65, but it will wander all over the place in between readings (both hovering over the SCM bars and refreshing the Diagnostics page. I'll go from -67 to -74 to -71 back to -67.

Is this normal for everyone or I'm just in a fringe area and should just be happy? Smile

I was going to start another thread on fluttering/pulsating speeds on tests that have a speedometer type readout. Speeds will go up and down during the whole test. Related to above or nature of the beast?

That is an interesting observation. My signal strength fluctuates constantly as well. The difference being that I never have gotten any better than -79dBm and I normally flutter between -85dBm and about -90dBm. Amazingly I consistently get around 1200kbps to 1500kbps DLs and 130kbps-ish ULs. (Obviously I'm in a Rev 0 area)

As for the jerky speed tests, I see that as well. I've always thought that was the "nature of the beast" as you said. It even sometimes comes to a complete stop for a second or two. Another odd thing is how many times I've seen it jerking around and pausing and all and it never gets above say 900kbps and then it''ll end and report an 1100kbps result! And on the UL side it'll sometimes sit there fluttering around 128kbps and then finish and report a result of 85kbps. Odd stuff this is!!
