I found some firmware bugs in the Linksys 2.00.9 release:
BUGS:
I have a static IP address set up for my WAN (ethernet) but if you unplug or power off the WAN ethernet, it falls over to the EVDO (as desired) but it also removes the static IP assignments and stuffs the latest EVDO ppp assigned IP address, subnet mask and gateway address into the locations where your previously assigned WAN address, etc. were configured.
You can not switch back to your WAN connection until you bring up the web interface and manually re-enter that data. VERY FRUSTRATING.
When the EVDO network is active (i.e. the blue light is on) all the hosts on the WAN port become unreachable for as long as the EVDO connection remains active. This is quite undesirable -- especially for something that calls itself a router(!) Simply because one switches to EVDO as the primary active internet connection (i.e. it's the default route) it absolutely doesn't mean you no longer wish to continue to access devices on the WAN port!!! This is FRUSTRATING because one can no longer determine health of the WAN connection from a host on the LAN if the WAN can no longer be reached.
The dynamic DNS client only updates dyndns.org if it's using the EVDO connection and with the EVDO service supplied IP address. It's desirable for IP address updates to be pushed to the dyndns.org server even when the WAN (i.e. the T1, DSL or SAT internet connection, whatever one happens have plugged into their WAN port) is the default route (and active connection) -- and that remains true even if the WAN connection has a static IP address assigned so that one only needs to advertise or remember a single hostname regardless of the ethernet WAN or the EVDO being the default route.
FEATURE REQUEST:
I would also really, really like the DHCP server to be able to manage and assign static address assignmets -- I am spoiled as my last router was a Linksys WRT54GS v4 running HyperWRT+Thibor and it was a nice balance between remaining as stock as possible while adding critical features like static DHCP.
DOCS LACKING DATA ON NEW FEATURES:
Also, a small gripe: there were no updates to the documentation pdf for the 2.00.9 release and the docs specifically relating to Mobile Network / Fallover "mobile/WAN" were nonexistent... the logic for each mode and what states they exist in based on each connection's health would be useful.
