|
|
Hello All
I've been using a RAZR at my home to get internet at "decent" speeds for about 6 months now, and it works, though slower than I would like at times (still better than my old dialup). The only hassle is that I have to connect the phone and dial out. I was wondering - does anyone out there have experience with speeds comparing an EVDO signal from a cell (in my case a RAZR) with and EVDO from a PC Card? I get about 85+% signal, but my speeds are (at best) only about 400k. I was wondering if I would gain any speed by getting the card and making a "permanent" installation with it.
Anyone have experience with comparing these two? |

Hi leebouknight,
I just recently (last week) dropped my KPC-650 in favor of connecting over my RAZR and I have noticed a performance decrease. I was getting better speeds using my card but switched for the price difference. $25 vs $60 - It was not that much of a speed difference.
I had orginally hoped to be able to use Xbox live for my son over the connection but that never worked due to the lag times. Alltel had not released any Rev A information either, so I dropped the card when my contract was fulfilled and switched to my RAZR. No contract so when we finally do get Rev A in my area be it Sprint or Alltel I can switch then if I decide to.
Anyway, hope this helps. |

I don't think that there are any speed difference between the two.
I have had real fast speeds and slow speeds depending on how busy the tower is. Everyone is going to experience the same effect on speed as you are depending on the service that is available, with either a card or phone.
To prove it all you have to do is take a card home and try it. Any store will let you take a card home and try it, if you will sign a contract. Then return it during the trial period for no cost to you. _________________ Ron |
