| Tried the new cm, I have a Sierra 595u card. With the old cm I have 4 bars of signal. With the new one it only shows 20 percent signal. Not sure which one is right. Didn't seem to be any difference with the download and upload. It would be nice to know what my signal really is. |

| Assuming the new SCM hasn't changed this, hover your mouse over the little antenna in the SCM at the top right corner and it should open a small window that lists what your signal strength is at that moment as well as what type of signal (1xrtt, 1xEVDO, EVDO Rev A) you're getting. The strength "meter" looks something like this: -80dBm. The lower the number the better. Around -50dBm is about perfect. Most people with good signals seem to see something in the range between -65dBm and -80dBm with -65dBm being better. Hope this makes a little sense! |

Sprint has indicated that version 1 is for Windows/Sierra cards only. Next Major Version for all cards. Next Major version after that for Mac (and possibly Linux). _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I just hope that the data-cards get a new SCM GUI that is a lot like the aircards...the aircards SCM GUI is so much more streamlined than that of the data-cards. |

There will be one Sprint Connection Manager for all Sprint Mobile Broadband cards. One SCM to support all cardas. Just imagine the current one that only support Sierra working with all data cards. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I really want something that works. I have been having frequent "unable to browse/gets stuck in dormant" mode. |
I have ICS enabled and whenever I try to run the SCM software, the connect button seems to be disabled. At first to connect I just went to Settings > Network Connections and right clicked on CDMA and selected connect (or disconnect) and it worked, but now whenever I launch firefox if theres not an active connection it does that for me. |

I'll be looking forward to that; it has a very streamlined and good-looking GUI; any idea when this is going to come out? |

| for us laptop less folks would be nice if it worked with a desk top and the Linksys router. we could then activate and up date our cards and being Sprint supports the router why not. this would open a big customer base I believe with folks being were dsl/cable are not. Also some like this old redneck on the internet who really do not want or need a laptop just good service that is faster then white lighting and a air card that will stay conected |

I'll second this; it would be really nice to do updates while the card is inserted into the WRT54G3G-ST; if you go too long without a firmware or PRL update, it can cause issues....plus, it'd be REALLY nice to be able to change HA's a lot more quickly.
I have a laptop, but it would just be significantly more convenient to change via the router. |

Good News...
Sprint will be delivering an updated Sprint Connection Manager (SCM) that supports ALL shipping data cards. No longer will this cool new interface only be available for the 2 Sierra AirCards.
Look for this update to be available as a free download from Sprint next week! _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

it's about time! Anyway, I'll definitely be looking forward to the new, streamlined connection manager. |

Hi Michael,
Do you know what version Sprint is up to with their Connection Manager software? I am desperately waiting for the one that supports the Mac.
I think there website shows only Version 1.1 so I am assuming that this new upcoming version should be the one we Mac users have been waiting for. No? |
