| Quote: | SPRINT LAUNCHES FASTER MOBILE BROADBAND NETWORK
IN ORLANDO
Users of the nation’s largest mobile broadband network now have the power to use significantly faster upload speeds that are on par with some DSL services
Enhanced services and new wireless cell sites part of more than $131 million network investment in Central Florida
ORLANDO, FL − March 27, 2007 − Beginning today, Sprint (NYSE: S) customers throughout the Orlando area join the more than 140 million people in 5,400 communities who can enjoy access to the upgraded Sprint Mobile Broadband Network, which provides users faster data speeds and the ability to ultimately use richer applications and services such as high-speed video telephony, music-on-demand, video messaging and large file uploads.
The industry’s largest mobile broadband network allows customers in the Orlando market to experience significantly faster average upload speeds of 350-500 Kbps (compared with 50-70 Kbps on current EV-DO networks) and average download speeds of 600 Kbps-1.4 Mbps (from 400-700 Kbps). Sprint’s upgraded mobile broadband network was awarded the coveted PC Magazine Editors’ Choice Award selected by a panel of PC Magazine editors, and leading industry experts.
In addition to faster speeds, Sprint added eight wireless cell sites within the last six months to its Nationwide Sprint PCS NetworkSM and Nextel National NetworkSM in Orlando, Apopka, Ocoee, Sanford and Kissimmee, as part of a more than $131 million investment in the Central Florida region last year. Upgraded EV-DO Revision A coverage will be available throughout most of the metropolitan Orlando area including Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
“Sprint customers in Orlando can now take advantage of the largest mobile broadband network to send and receive information at speeds that rival some DSL offerings without being tied to a desk,” said Bob Halcrow, Sprint area vice president, Florida. “This leading technology gives our customers the powerful combination of mobility and speed so they can manage their business and personal lives while on the go.”
Currently, Sprint provides mobile broadband services throughout Florida including in and around Miami, Tampa, Tallahassee, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Gainesville and many areas in between.
The following is a detailed list of the Central Florida areas also benefiting thanks to the recent wireless cell site additions:
Sprint Nationwide Network
• Goldenrod, covering the area of Colonial Drive and North Goldenroad Road (OR70XR055)
• Kissimmee, in the area of East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway near Commerce Center Drive (OR70XR453)
• Orlando, in the Lake Nona area near Narcoossee Road and Tyson Road (OR70XC016)
• Apopka, in the area of West Kelly Park Road and Plymouth Sorrento Road; along Clarcona Road between Cleveland Street and West Keen Road (OR70XC201, 0R70XC203)
• Ocoee, along West Colonial Drive between the Florida Turnpike Entrance and the 429 (OR60XC263)
• Sanford, in the area of CR 46 and Riverview Avenue (OR73XC043)
Nextel National Network
• Orlando International Airport – in-building coverage enhanced.
In January, Sprint announced the availability of Revision A technology in South Florida.
The Sprint Mobile Broadband Network is the nation’s largest mobile broadband network, reaching more than 209 million people nationwide in more than 10,700 communities as well as 1029 airports. Sprint will continue to upgrade its mobile broadband network to the faster EV-DO Revision A technology for the rest of 2007 which will further drive Sprint’s wireless data leadership as customers will be able to use the upgraded network to utilize applications such as all IP video telephony, high-performance push-to-talk (walkie-talkie service), multi-user video conferencing, real-time gaming and video streaming as they become available.
Device Portfolio And GPS Leadership
Sprint also has the industry leading portfolio of Revision A-capable devices including the Merlin EX720 by Novatel Wireless (Nasdaq: NVTL), Sprint’s first EV-DO Revision A capable ExpressCard, the Novatel Wireless U720 USB device and three PCMCIA Type II Mobile Broadband cards. Other devices embedded with Sprint’s EV-DO Revision A technology include laptops like Sony’s VAIO VGN-TXN10 Series and rugged, stand-alone connectivity devices like Airlink’s PinPoint X and Raven X. All of the Sprint EV-DO Revision A-capable devices will also work on the mobile broadband network in areas where the EV-DO Revision A upgrade is not yet available.
Sprint customers with the Novatel Wireless U720 and Novatel EX720 now have the power to use the first Location Based Services (LBS) capability on a Revision A connection card through an enhanced version of the Sprint Connection Manager software. Users of these cards will be able to perform location based searches to find a nearby restaurant, gas station, bank and other points of interest without having to input their current location. This basic Sprint location and search usage is included as part of Sprint’s flexible data and unlimited data connection card plans. Current users can obtain the software by checking for updates using their Sprint Connection Manager, or it can be downloaded from www.sprint.com/downloads.
Greater Value for Customers
Customers signing a two-year Sprint subscriber agreement may be eligible to receive unlimited data usage for $59.99 per month (no separate voice plan required). Other individual service plans for all mobile broadband devices currently range from $39.99 per month for 40 MB to $79.99 per month for unlimited data usage with a one year subscriber agreement. Rates apply to all Power Vision users and do not change in areas that have been upgraded to EV-DO Revision A. |

Yea! I live in Orlando.
If I have a LinkSys router and an S720, would it automatically start using the RevA now or do I need to do anything to enable it?
Here is to hoping its faster when I get home tonight. |

Hello,
Looks like you got your S720 + LinkSys from us around middle of October 2006.
You may need to upgrade your S720 with the latest firmware before it will work with Rev A. This can be done by inserting your S720 into a Windows PC and downloading the latest Sprint Connection Manager. If you don't have access to a PC/XP with a PCMCIA slot, you can contact us and if you don't mind paying for shipping both ways, we can upgrade the firmware for you (easier if you can find someone with a Windows PC to do the upgrade). _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I am still seeing really bad download and upload speeds. I called the Sprint technical support and they were nice enough to open what he called a "CTMS Ticket". Estimated time of repair is 36hrs. I sure hope they can fix my issues. Its not so much that it is not faster now but that download and upload speeds are alot slower. =\

So can anyone tell me whether or not the Rev A coverage from Sprint has coverage at Walt Disney World? I will be staying at Old Key West resort and am wondering whether or not to expect high speed access or not.
Thanks |

It seems to be a common trend that EVDO actually slows down for a couple
weeks after a RevA upgrade. My performance also went down to
300-600Kbps for several days after RevA turned on. But now I more often
get over 1Mbps up to 2.5Mbps. It appears it takes them a couple weeks to
fine tune after the RevA upgrade.
Might also try reinstalling the Connection Manager.

| Your decrease in speeds may be a result of the CTIA gathering in Orlando this week ... multiple vendors, consumers, etc... sharing the same the network area. |

I agree with both of you guys. It seems that alot of people notice speeds decrease as soon as Rev-A is deployed and then over time it corrects itself. It could also have some to do with CTIA but I dont think it would effect it that much. Im near downtown and the conference is south of us near International drive and that area is serviced from a different tower then me.
On the positive side pings are decent.

Michael
Thanks for the report. The last time I was there my Treo 650 showed marginal signals at Old Key West but got better around Downtown Disney. I guess I should be prepared to do some mobile internetting. (grin). Too bad we aren't there at the same time. It would have been great meeting you and comparing EVDO experiences.
Thanks again. |
