tcp optimizer says rwin should be 256960
but dr tcp says it should be 62780
Thanks

I would recommend Dr. TCP over TCP optimizer, personally. | Why? |
because he went through 8 years of TCP school.
Seriously though, all jokes aside; the main reason I use it is because broadband report's recommends it, and, well, broadband reports is full of network admins, network engineers and the like; I doubt they'd recommend a junk program. |

The odd thing is, the best signal I can get is lower to mid-70's, that is with Linksys router in window facing tower. I did a test and got NO speed difference between home and 100 yards from the tower..and beside a help in latency, Rev A didn't do much for me..so that leaves me with the question of..what do I need to do on my end to get faster speeds?? |
you may want to go to Broadband Reports (www.dslreports.com) and try out their tweak test (under tools); many users have been able to get much better speeds after tweaking their computers. |
Well, I made the change to rwin..made no difference. Sometime in the next couple of days, going to go sit about 100 yards from the tower again, now that Rev A is on and do another test. I did the test before Rev A was turned on and I got no difference in speed, with a signal of -80 and -65, wonder if it will be different with Rev A now.

Hey everyone, I am new to this forum but I was referred by someone at NotebookForums.com. I hang out there a lot. I asked a questions about whos better for mobile broadband between VZW and Sprint. Most epople are saying spring and I live in Cincinnati (Delhi Township) so this thread is perfect. My average signal is between -90dba and -100db. I only get speeds from about 400-600Kbps on my U720. Does that sound right? It seems slower then it should be. I live 10 minutes from Downtown and 10 minutes from CVG if I take Anderson Ferry. _________________ Chad Stradling |

| Just an FYI. Cell Antennas are not ommi-directional. depending on the antenna tilt you may have to be up to .5 miles away to lock onto that tower. Even then there is no way to verify you are on that tower unless you have software capable of reading the CID & have the tower CID's to confirm that. |

Hey sol,
Is there anyway to get software like that? What would it be called? Also, is there a website or something that will show you what towers are around you? I know that exists for digital TV so maybe phones to? _________________ Chad Stradling |

check there and download that upgrade if you have not already.
As far as seeing the CID you are pretty much out of luck. I have a Cingular test phone & it provides CID information on towers. Unless you have the data decoding the CID (providing the tower address information) you would not be able to figure out what tower it is. |

Yeah, with Vista and all I make sure I get the newest drivers, software, and firmware. You almost have to.
So you don't know of a website that will show towers? _________________ Chad Stradling |

I found the site called antennaweb.com and its great. It shows every tower around an given address. It also shows antennas. It tells you who the owner of the tower is and all kinds of other info. It looks like I don't have a sprint tower to close to me. I have a verizon close which is why our PCMIA card from VZW works great.
Its fine though our new house that we are moving into soon has a tower .7 miles away _________________ Chad Stradling |

the only problem is those sites are not completely accurate. Without a test phone you can not be sure what site you are actually connected to. I looked up areas where I have been working on new towers and they are not listed.
BTW it's antennasearch.com |

new update:
it appears as though Revision A has been turned on in Cleveland and Toledo.
Aside from a few towers that still need to be changed over to Revision A, Columbus is the only major area that has yet to go Revision A, in Ohio.
I'll be glad when Columbus is lit with Revision A; I'll be able to enjoy faster speeds in most of the areas I travel to. |

| REV A is here in central ohio now too .... I live outside circleville ohio and its up and running now... I think it was turned on sunday ....I was checking a morel mushroom site and looked down and saw yellow arrows , so I hovered over bars and sure enough ...evdo rev a ....my download and upload speeds are not nearly what they should be but my ping is great ...I did a ping test and im down at 90 ms .....all of my online games run great now!!!! I figure that in a week or so everything will be worked out and my up and download speeds will be what they should.... BTW my downloads are around 400 to 450 kbps and my uploads are at around 130 to 145.....This is fine with me though , after all I am a dial up user of 8 yrs so this stuff is spectacular!!!! the speeds are about the same as they were with rev 0 but the ping time is alot better , so I'm all good with this change ......I'd say that most of ohio is REV A now so check your speeds and ping times ....I think youll be impressed..... |
