|
|
I am preparing a setup so I can full time in my rv next month.
Here is my setup.
Dlink dir-450 - Firmare 1.01
Sprint Sierra AC595... current dialip mananger and firmware via sierra support.
I have hooked to it, a couple of computers via wifi, a vonage linksys ata via port 1.
The laptops are typical internet usage through out the day and one laptop utilzes a vpn durring busienss hours.
The setup works great all day long. Fairly stong signal, evdo rev0, St. Louis MO.
Then late evening ( 2300 or later) the router connects to dead ips and shows no signal. If I reconnect, it sometimes will have a signal but the connection will drop. A reboot usually has the same problem.
The router will have a red lit light and shows no signal but ip info in the wan(internet section.) This will continue until morning and then the connection is rock solid until late night.
I bought the equipment on saturday and have had this cycle the last three nights.
Yesterday, I had the connection active all day and night, today the connection is idle, I know the connection is working because I can call the vonage phone with no problems.
I have hooked the card to the laptop and the only difference I have notices is that the card is a little faster in the laptop.
Any ideas? |

I came home tonite to see that the red lite was on and the connection was stagnate.
I dicconnected and reconnected a few times to nothing.
I rebooted and now it seems to work.
Any ideas?
I ordered a roof mount antenna and amp from here today. I will install it in the rv this weekend.
I have been able to telnet into the router but I can not figure out how to make changes permanant. I want to write a little ping script that reboots the router if it detects a dead connection.
I used to do this years ago when I had a low quality dsl connection. But since the router runs linux and I do not want to rely on another computer to be running, I was hoping that this would work. |

I went ahead and followed some of the fixes for the kr-1 and it seems that the unit is more stable.
I dropped the power on the wireless to 25% and changed its channel to 11.
The unit has now stawed connected for 24hours without a unrecoverable drop. |
