|
|
| Can someone help me? I have the Sony vaio UX380 and have installed the software from Sprint for the U720 usb card. It says everything was installed correctly but when I start the wireless program from sprint it tells me to insert the device, when the device is inserted the same message stays and it doesn't acknowledge it's plugged in. The U720is getting power because the green light is on when plugged in. I have tried to reinstall it a couple of time and always get the same results. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? |

I had this same problem... I was able to activate the card using another computer and now use a router.
There could be numerous reasons why you can not get the card working and there may be no easy answer... |

| The card is activated and works with my other laptop, I just cant get it to work with the Sony ux380. Has anyone got the U720 to work with the UX180, 280, or 380? |

It works fine under Win XP.
I haven't checked - did Sprint or Novatel release Vista drivers for the U720?
You have three new things here, the UX380, Vista OS, & I'm assuming a U720 Vista driver. There may be a bit of teething pain until everything sorts out. |

| I have a Sony Vaio UX280. I have Verizon and the USB720 device. (Windows XP). I can connect to Verizon but only at NationalAccess speeds, i.e., 1x. Even though I'm in a Broadband speed service area (EVDO Rev 0) the USB720 does not see or connect to the faster service. I've talked to Verizon national support and locally... they contend that this is a known issued with the USB720 which is strange to me because I see others on this and other forums who are NOT having this problem. Anyway, just a thought about your own issue.... is it possible that the USB720 is conflicting with the built in Sprint device that (at least with my UX280) comes with the Vaio? |

| The Vaio UX380 comes with cingular built in, that is a good question, I may have to call Sony on this. |

Yes...so did my UX280 and that's what I was referring to. . If you call Sony they will provide you with an unlock code so that you're not stuck with only Cingular service. I did this so that I could use Verizon and it wasn't much trouble. I left the Cingular (now neutered) card in the computer but I disabled it via control panel->system->hardware->device manager
And finally, I'll close with more good signs for you. Someone at Verizon or at Novatel must have done something for me because as of today, Verison EVDO Rev A service is now working!! I'd think once you free yourself from the Cingular dedicated configuration that Sony builds in, you should have good results too. |

| I talked to Sony and they said there is nothing they can do except take the cingular sim out, which didn't work, and I now have to call Sprint. I told them it's not a software issue with Vista but Sony says it is. The network card works fine my Vista laptop. If Sprint has no answers I am going to return the UX380 for the TX that has Sprint built in. |
