| Ok, I was using my Verizon's KPC650 with my Dlink-450, but I am ready to ditch Verizon and switch to Sprint. Now my question is, those people that owned the DIR450, do you have any problem with AC505 or S720 cards? Random disconnects? Slow Speed? etc.. |

I *had* a DIR-450 using a S720 on Sprint. I filed a return to the place I bought it from (not here) within days of putting it into service but was turned off within 24 hours.
I don't believe that I have any problems specific to the S720, just stability and feature set shortcomings with the device.
If you were satisfied with the performance and stability in your previous usage I doubt you will have any problems. I do believe that you need the most current firmware to support to S720 though. _________________ --Larry |

Llama,
Thanks for sharing your experience, with KPC650 I had disconnection issues, and it's annoying to have to have login into admin and reconnect the device. other than that it was ok. I was hoping to make sure either the AC595 or S720 is fully compatible with DIR-450 that's all..
So your problem was more on the DIR-450 rather than the S720? |

Yeah, I just had some real issues with stability: reset all settings to default all the time (seemed to be much worse when I set up DHCP reservations), would randomly reset the network subnet back to default (which also eats the reservations), once the unit crashed so hard I had to do the crash recovery to get it back online.
Once I stopped trying to add reservations the box seemed to settle down, so maybe that was the real bug. By that time I had already ordered the Linksys (which does not even do reservations) since i am just more familiar with their products and it was reviewed well here.
DLink offered to send me a different unit, but it was too late. If yours has never done these kinds of things then I very well could have had a bum unit. When the router was running I had no particular problems with it and setting it up to use the S720 was a piece of cake. I updated the firmware as soon as I opened the packaging since I had it a day before the card arrived. _________________ --Larry |

I used DHCP reservations on my DIR-450 and did not encounter any problems. Mine's collecting dust right now too, but that's due to Verizon kicking me off (I was using a V620 card) and me only able to quickly get a U720 from Sprint (no Sprint stores had the S720 at the time). So for now, I'm using my server to share the U720 connection.
All and all the DIR-450 worked pretty well for me for the short time I could use it. It was the same speed as a direct connection to the V620 and did not seem to randomly disconnect (it may have done it once over a few weeks time). There may not be too much experience with it and the S720 yet, since the firmware that supports it only came out on Feb. 2. _________________ Reach, Connect, Celebrate, Grow, Serve. |

| Same here, I currently have both KPC650 from Verizon and Sprint's U720, as none of the stores has S720 yet. So I can't really test my DIR-450 beyond the Veriozn card, but I don't get a EVDO signal anyways in my home, so even if I have a AC959 or S720, I wouldn't be able to connect until Sprint adds EVDO tower here. |
