I'll add one other tidbit of info about the Sprint maps: they seem to take into account terrain. Previous maps showed me in a swath of green even though I am getting Rev. A. The update a few days ago now shows Rev. A coverage stopping just short of me to the west. This means the map now takes into account the tower 1.4 miles to the west of me. However, the transition from Rev. A to 1xRTT follows a hill line about 1.2 miles from the tower, so it looks like the only reason they are showing the change to green is the local terrain altitude compared to the tower and their method for determining EVDO reception is probably a simple and pretty conservative altitude check of some sort.

Those maps are really misinforming, A month and half ago I got Sprint only to find out the my area was in the little gray zone where there is no EVDO, and since they updated the map a few days ago, that little gray zone now becomes a light orange shade (EVDO Rev0), and then if I click on a planned coverage I will see the entire used to be gray area, now orange EVDO Rev 0 will be Rev A. in the next 120 days, (who knows if that is true, as I have see no one is working on that location). so I rush out and active again with Sprint, only to find out no difference, I am still only getting 1xRTT with No EVDO at all, so took some of the people suggested, which I think it very valid. That sprint put roaming area with other carriers (in my area it's verizon) into their coverage as well. So now I have set the card to Roam only and EVDO hoping to roam to my good old verizon's EVDO and guess what, the connection was refused with an error message saying "Data Service Not Available In Your Area". so my bottom line is, personally I prefer the old map, so you know who is getting coverage and who is not, at least for me, but the new map says I am inside their EVDO zone, while I am not getting anything is more annoying than anything else.

BTW, you know how I can tell that my area is cover by another carrier? because my used to be gray area is surround with Sprint's Rev A. shades and now the new map shows I have Rev 0, while it's still surround with Rev A around. so I know I am in a dead spot and they are using verizon's EVDO to cover that until they have their own tower, but the damn thing is, I can't roam to verizon.. Sigh.. Stupid Sprint!

If you look at AllTel's maps, EVDO...

The differences are obvious when you look at Nebraska and northwestern Missouri.

Yeah, the Alltel DO area is huge in some states. Sprint roams DO on them but they don't include it on their new maps.

Alltell DO in dark blue.

Pekkle, Sprint and Verizon do not have DO roaming agreements, only 1xRTT. Only Sprint/Alltel have DO roaming. Surprising the maps shows you have DO but you don't. Sprint tends to be on conservative side in most cases. What card r u using and what zipcode?

Alltel is shown on these maps, if you look up Sturgis, MI, any area shown north of town as being Sprint is Alltel. Sprint has no coverage once you leave town.

I was in one of these areas a few days ago and my phone said it was roaming, even though I have the latest PRL, so your device still must show roaming. Which kind of sucks because the A900 still won't data roam that way.
