I am using my PC5740 evdo on Suse 10.2 and every 4 mins or so it just disconnects. I was wondering if anyone knew a solution to this aggravating problem?
Any help is appreciated |

Yeah, I might be a newb but I think I might be able to help ya a little. Edit this with your root account or sudo or su.
Probably the easiest would be to open the home directory with konq (the little house icon) and back up to the root directory. Then navigate to the directory etc, then go to ppp folder. Right click inside the ppp folder on the right side pane (not on a file) and select actions then select console. Once it drops you into the command line interface, type su then enter your password for the root account. Then type kate options. Scroll down, looking at the beginning of each line for lcp. Each line you see lcp, put a # in front of it if it doesn't have one already. When you get to the bottom of the file, go up to the menu of kate and select file then save. Close kate. Still at the command line window, type reboot. Wait for it to reboot then log on as usual. If everything goes as it should, your connection should work fine now.
Another thing is that you could also go into the dialup properties in the modem gui, (the thing you entered all the info for the modem to connect with, don't know which tab it's under but poke around and you should find it. It's usually kppp if you're using that, and look for something to do with redial if line/connection dropped and check that box to enable it.
From when I tried using suse in the past with my s720, it didn't like it so I'm using a more "standardized" version of linux that works for me and places the files in the directories that most other distros put them, simplymepis.
I don't know the level of your knowledge in linux so I tried to explain this in the simplest and most detailed manner that I could from my memory of doing it countless times in the past.
Hope this helps you |

I have solved this problem by changing a few things in the OPTIONS file located in /etc/ppp/.
The changes are as follows:
lcp-echo-interval 30 to lcp-echo-interval 65535
# Specifies that pppd should disconnect if the link is idle for n seconds.
idle 600 to
# Specifies that pppd should disconnect if the link is idle for n seconds.
idle 0 |
