|
|
So, we have directions to share EVDO for Mac and Windows and a few EVDO router products are available (Junxion, StompBox, soon KR1, and others) that have built-in EVDO sharing.
According to Verizon's Terms of Service, this is NOT ALLOWED.
According to one of the other router manufacturers:
| Quote: | | MB6000 can support multiple laptops/computers access to Internet simultaneously. All laptops/computers share a same cellular network link, and additional network fee is saved. |
So what gives? There has been some discussion at other places that Verizon is starting to not like this. But, what can they do?
I tend to agree, if you setup a hotspot to share at a coffee shop with 50 people, that really shouldn't be done. But what about the guy who purchased unlimited monthly bandwidth and he just wants 2 computers in his home to access at the same time for lite web surfing? Is the second computer really suppose to pay an additional $80/month?
What are your comments and thoughts on this? I would like to hear from those that are currently sharing either heavily or just lightly, how you are sharing and your thoughts on this. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

great question!
Some of us have a need. I for one purchased the card for my laptop because at the new home (at the present) I have no other option for Intenet access! My wife would like for my laptop not to be the center of attention in the house, and unfortunately the best signal is in the "bedroom" It is my interest to install my $80 a month card into a PCI adaptor in a desktop box in the B/R and share it with my laptop/other Computer in my office down the hall?
Comments?
Tim
PS: I ordered the B/A should be here Monday |

if you can wait a few months, a KR1 Router would do the trick for a couple hundred
dollars, instead of using a desktop. Other options also inclde a StompBox and other router$
Post your results here after plug in the booster antenna, I bet it might help in other rooms. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Thanks for the quick response! I am currently at the Swantown Marina in Olympia WA, on the sundeck of our 50ft MY and connected to broadband. The speed tests show from 860 to 1.2meg down and 130up. Life is good!
Tim
PS: I will give a report when I get the booster antenna on Monday/Tuesday. |

Michael,
Yup, Tuesday it is and I am looking forward to it. Has it been worth it to boost the signal with an amp. as I have done with my verizon cell phone?
There is advantages to living out of town but we are always a little behind on technology, heck it was just last year when we finally got pulse tone dialing (yuk, yuk)

| is it possible to buy an EVDO card from Verizon if you already have EVDO service for your phone (without having to buy the service again)? |
