keep in mind PRL updates are updated automatically...unless you manually download one and manually install it.
Anyway, even with that said, I still think the Linksys is quite quirky. |

I have the exact same problem - I'm using an S720 - and I have to reboot 4-5 times a day due to complete loss of connection. Green LED still blinks like its online, but NOTHING. _________________ Linksys+S720+TN |

| Have they updated the firmware yet so we can at least get better upload speeds? |

I think I can count the number of times I have had to reboot the router from a dead connection on one hand, over 6 months. In fact, my connection can stay alive for weeks, and at least once over a month, at a time.
The only real times I have had to reboot where when I was trying to figure out why Rev A went away (Sprint network problem).
Maybe we should include information about the router hardware (serial number, etc) to see if there is any correlation?
When I had my router running in my car over a 2000+ mile trip I *did* have a mess of dropped connections, but I switched from channel 6 to 11 in an attempt to avoid other people's default radios and never got booted again. Have you guys with the problem tried to see if it happens on different channels and/or different radio modes? _________________ --Larry |

My router has been almost like a brick from the day it came out of the box.
I think that the linksyssies FUBAR'ed up this model and simply threw it at Sprint to sell.
I get better UL and DL speeds running off of my laptop. This is NOT how you keep your customers linksys. |

I almost wish I had never seen this router or air card (WRT54G3G-st and a Pantech px-500) the idea is great for some one living in the country like my self. so far three days and have spent a few hours with tec support at Linksys. gone threw two routers. some more hours with Sprint just on hold to get no were v. Sprint customer service makes me glad I have t mobile for a cell phone.
I finally get the thing running and now just like most here it cuts out but says it is still connected. dose any one know of a card that dose not do this in the router? I do not have the evdo yet (Sprint says end of Sept here ) all I can get is a sat system .no thank you Sprint broadband direct no thank you even more! or dial up . what i have with only 24 kbps yet it works 100% I need this with to in collage on in high school and you self please if any one knows of a card that works tell me as in about two weeks this thing will be gone if it keeps up! Man if any thing i should have bought it from G3
sorry my spelling and writing stink |

It is not unusual for a hardware or software company to knowingly ship a buggy product feeling that they can issue an update later. We are dealing with economics here and very few company, if any at all, ship a 100% bug free product. Automobiles have recalls and automobile companies are on record for deciding to not replace a part known defective before shipping because the lawsuits and awards for any injuries or deaths are predicted to cost less than replacing the part. Fortunately software hasn't been implicated in any such events.
It is also quite typical for bugs to appear when the utilmate beta tester, the consumer, starts using the product because the consumer has made modifications and installed junk software and malware is now on their computers. The software houses just don't have the resources to test on millions of computers before shipping.
I cannot find one software product that did not ship with bugs.
So, what I am saying is that even though personally it is quite upsetting when something doesn't work right, this is not an isolated problem but one that is to be expected with all software and all hardware. Unfortunately people really personalize their ownership and often don't have 20 years of experience to understand what I have said above. |

| the above post I fully agree with but one part not stated. yes the end user is the end tester also this is true . What i do feel is they should also have some of the fixes already done like compatibility with the cards they say are okay with it . I also believe they knew about the disconnect problem and one way to lose customers is to send out to end users before it is really ready to use . take a not to techy person like my self .( I do build computers but can never get a net work to set up with out a day or two into it as this is only my 2nd time in over 6 years ) or some one like my Mother who needs only to plug it in and let the soft wear do the rest . this is the segment of the market that needs to also be looked at not the ones like my self border line techno freaks LOL |

Once upon a time, Linksys used to put out a dependable product.
These days, you can expect to get a lemon in one out of twenty units. To them, that is acceptable. To their customers, it's a nightmare. I'm looking at the other routers this store is selling.
The bottom line is that this situation that linksys has put us in is unacceptable. |

I read some were that having you e mail setting to check every 4 to 5 mins helped well tried that and no go for my self . now I leave yahoo massager on and so far today not one drop in connectivity at all . last night i shut the computer down and the router (WRT54G3G-ST) . this morning powered router first waited for blue light to be steady ( fastest it ever did by the way) then powered up the computer. this is a desk top not a lap top by the way. may be it will work for some one other also . well post in a day or two how it is still working because one day dose not make some thing great .
okay adding to this a day later . the yahoo thing did not work and today was the worst day for having to reboot the router to try and stay on line sorry about that folks well try something other when i think of it or hope some one other dose first LOL |

FWIW, I'm experiencing the exact same thing with Alltel using the same card and router. After exact 12 hrs, no traffic can be moved through the connection despite the router showing a status of connected. I have to reboot in order to fix the problem.
12 hrs after the reboot, like clockwork, I have to reboot again. So frustrating. |

I have only had this router 5 days this is my experience
I did have issues with this router disconnecting several times before a 12hr time frame which I believe is the router problem
I disconnected the wireless seems to help. I am going to reconnect the wireless today
I am also an Alltel user using the PC5750
The 12hr reboot has nothing to do with this router. I also had a 12 hour loss of connection with the PC5750 running 24/7 in my laptop
I called Alltel tech support from what I learned this is standard for Alltel all Alltel users should experience this.
I have read where some Alltel users do not experience this not sure why. |

I write this script, it has worked for me for nearly 48 hours without flaw.
I am giving you this warning, I have had this script work for a week, then something changed and I had to alter my script. I think I have it nailed down 100% this time. I know it's a bit sloppy but it works and used to be much more complicated. That is why there are so many unused variables.
