Yes Telepotence is Kims company, if you have a Verizon account, you would pay Verizon each month. Since, you are not doing that, you don't have a Verizon account, I would just stop paying or inform your credit card company that you are being billed for services that you are not receiving and to NOT pay it any more. I would also contact your credit card company of the fraud going on (they usually look into fraud and don't like it). If Verizon is not billing you, there is no way, you can be whacked by a Verizon Early Termination fee.

I wonder if others are paying to Telepotence and not getting anything for it.

Just for clarification, I do have an EVDO card that Telepotence sold me and do indeed get monthly service that works fine. I pay 64.64 per month for unlimited internet access. My credit card is billed monthly and the name "Telepotence Coverage" shows up each time (not Verizon). Our other wireless card was purchased from Earthlink and that name is what shows up on the credit card each month. So, I have not been defrauded by Kim from a monthly service standpoint. Only a repeater that was returned for which he never gave me my money back. I guess the part that confuses me (and always has) is who is providing the service for each card. My husband thought it was Verizon from Bob Kim and possibly Sprint from Earthlink. But it is not clear to me. Very confusing. But for the record, I did not want to make it seem like Kim is charging me a monthly service wrongfully. That part is legitimate. Hopefully this makes sense as I don't want to spread misinformation. Thanks again for letting me bend your ear. You are most helpful!!!

PostPosted: Sun Feb 19, 2006 11:55 pm    Post subject: Robert Kim Fires back?

(sorry for the long post)

Around 18 months ago, we saw something we didn't like that was going on with the infant EVDO market. There was one guy who had registered 100s of similar sounding domains and he was basically controlling Google when anyone searched on EVDO (or related products). This was Robert Kim. There were many lies (e.g. get your card from him and get 3500K speeds, and lots of other misinformation). So, we decided to start a web site called EVDO-Info.com. This was a 1 page web site that debunked a lot of the information on Kim's web site. We were not selling anything or even making a penny, it was only a single web page to help people purchase this great technology and not be taken advantage of.

The problem, is that Robert Kim owned the top 100 places of the search engines because of all the domains he registered and the technique he used to link them to one another (sorry Robert, this doesn't work as well as it used to), although Kim still sells a eBook that states:

Quote:
How to get into the top 10 of Google.
How to kick your competitor off of the first page of any Search Engine.

So, at the time, we figured out a way to achieve top ranking in Google, with minimal work. In fact, this was completely wrong, how we did it, BUT it worked and within weeks, OUR domain was #1 when you search on EVDO. Our little 1 page domain was getting the word out.

Robert Kim didn't like this. And he figured out what we were doing was wrong and got others involved to see how we were #1. To make a long story short. What we did was manipulate Google, we never made a penny, or charged anyone, or did this for profit, just to knock of Kim from Google - AND it worked. We got busted, for our "technique", and Google banned our domains. We started over with new domains (from scratch) and 1 year later, we are ranking near the top in almost all search engines when you enter "EVDO". FYI, we will not share what we did, we do not do it any more, and will not in the future.

SO, now Kim is firing back one year later, and accusing us of:

- Slander to him
- Hacking a web site that contained these original posts (this one is comical)

What we did was manipulate Google's results, and that WAS WRONG. But, we did it, so people wouldn't be taken advantage by him. At the time we did it, we were not authorized by Verizon or Sprint, we were just trying to help people, NOT make a mistake. Our little web page web site has grown A LOT over the last year, and now WE are close to becoming #1 at all the major search engines.

What Kim has been doing IS WRONG. There are many people that I have talked with on the phone (who have not posted here), and what the stories they tell me are criminal.

Kim is now feeling the pressure. His method for spamming the search engines (tons of domains), is no longer working, and we are currently getting 5X MORE traffic than he is (see Alexa for independent traffic results).

Sorry for the long post, I wanted to post to this thread, because of how Kim states:

"EVDOinfo EVDOforums - The Dirt, The Truth, the Ugly"

Does anyone else think the above graph is honest and accurate? It is from the person's web site that we are talking about in this thread.

Can a "SuperCharged" KPC650 actually do 3000Kbps? No

Here is how these wild claims are made:

1) Do the tests at http://www.DSLreports.com/stest on the PC5740 (these tests are very accurate)

2) Install Venturi for Mac OS X - yes this is free (and this software is great at skewing benchmarks)

3) Next, do a bench mark, but instead of doing it at the reliable DSLreports, do it at Toast.net. When Venturi is installed, you are actually benchmarking the Venturi servers to Toast.net, NOT your computer to Toast.net. So, of course the speeds will be fast, and that explains how the speeds of 3000Kbps are displayed. For those in the "know", these speeds are comical, since the current EVDO has a limit of around 2.4Mbps (it is impossible to get 3000).

More on Benchmarking EVDO.

We also did a comparison between the PC5740 vs. KPC650 on EVDOinfo.com. Same computer, same test site, same everything, except the card was different.

You wrote: What is the make and model of the card . We should be able to tell service provider from that[/quote]

____________________________________________________________

THe make and Model from the card purchased from Earthlink is "Sierra Wireless AirCard 555 PC Card"

The card purchased from Telepotence is called "Kyocera V650 EVDO AirModem Card"

Thanks for the information!!!

Micheal, thank you for the insight to the origins and evolution of EVDO Info and Forums in your post. When you first came to GBF and posted as EVDOGuy I did check you out and found you to be creditable. And, I too had found some of the bogus EVDO websites out there ie. Mr. Kim and as I have said before (a reminder to Kim) Mr. Kim is not welcome at GBF and will be BANNED (IP Addy, username and any email addy he uses) by me if I catch him there.

To Whom It May Concern:

This message in response to the previous postings… I recently acquired a new cell phone through Verizon (about 30 days) and have since received numerous messages/phone calls from individuals who have a great need to find Robert and give him a “piece-of-their-mind”. I have heard people make an array of threats and some of the messages are frankly… quite colorful. I had one woman go on and on about contacting the authorities because she did not consent to a $300.00 charge to her credit card. A man by the name of Curtis was upset because he (Robert) had not removed furnishings from a suite he had apparently leased from him and had been asked to vacate… Point being… the number listed on the website will not get you Mr. Kim. I can absolutely empathize with whatever you are all going through… but I think I need assistance finding the fellow myself…

Hello,

So, you get a new Verizon cell phone, and it happens to be the same one that Robert Kim disconnected, he still publishes that number on his web site and you are getting a lot of people calling and screaming at you?

The first thing I would recommend, is call Verizon and have them do an number change, this will not cost you anything and it will allow you to get a new phone number (call *611 from the cell phone). That will not help the people looking for him, BUT it will stop your phone from ringing related to this.

Good luck AND thanks for sharing.

PostPosted: Mon Mar 06, 2006 8:26 pm    Post subject: Time to put an end to this

I know there are many pepole in cyberland that take advantage of their customers. May that be by promising things that will never happen, charging unapproved charges on credit cards, never refunding upon return of equipment.... ect.

To post advice saying "Stay away from Robert Kim" seems to help only a handfull compared to the massive amount of people who, in the meantime, will be screwed by this tenacious con-man.

It is evident that I have found myself in a business ethics conflict (by being a verizon wireless authorized dealer) that has almost turned into a moral dilema. I feel that even though I have no affiliation with either the customer, or Robert, I could and should report these treacherous events. In my last post, I stated that it is virtually impossible to keep track of Bob Kim's business because of the thousands of authorized dealers bob can "dba" as. BUT I can have a Verizon legal rep. investigate him and place a red flag on all four Verizon regions to his social and tax id. This will prevent any authorized dealer from wanting to do business with him. If you have details about an outlet id # which he is using, (this is a number that would appear on your customer agreement form) please let me know. This will speed the process.

As for "pdanova", dial *611 from your cell phone, and tell customer service to change your cell #.

Hey AintiGreat, check your PM, I contacted you, and would love to find out more info!

I just hung up the phone with someone who placed an order from Robert Kim. They called him to place an order for the KR1 Router and KPC650. Robert Kim told him, the KR1 would never ship and sold him a different router that was "a lot more". He shipped the router to them, and told him that Michael would send the card. He even gave the customer our phone number. Of course, the customer calls us up angry and then feels very violated and ashamed after he is told what happened.

Let me make this real clear - WE ARE NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ROBERT KIM

We ARE NOT THE SAME COMPANY. I know that when you call and ask him, that he says, "Yes, we are all part of the same company, he is part of Booster-Antenna.com, EVDOinfo.com".

AGAIN, THAT IS NOT TRUE.

Do not get suckered into doing business with this con-artist. Do not let him tell you that EVDOinfo.com, EVDOforums.com, Booster-Antenna.com are all part of his company, THERE ARE NOT.

What Robert Kim is doing is nothing short of walking into a gas station with a ski mask and gun and stealing. The difference, is he uses the internet, hides behind protecting the ownership of his 100s of domain names, hosting his sites in Canada and changing his phone numbers.

If you find this thread because you have been taken advantage of. Remember, that as a consumer, you can always call your credit card company and dispute the charges and issue a "chargeback" to the merchant. After a merchant gets enough of chargebacks, they get cancelled from their bank.

Search Engines are what Robert Kim uses to bring him new bait, and now we are using search engines to help make people aware.

Do a search in Google for Robert Kim, notice this thread is now on the top 10. Search on Telepotence and this thread is now #1. Now, you can help. If you run a web site or blog, you can reference this thread and Robert Kims name, and it will help raise this thread even higher in the different search engines.

Here is example code to reference this thread:

Code:
<a href="http://www.evdoforums.com/about474.html">Robert Kim</a>

The more people that do this, the more links there will be and the higher the search engine placement it will be.

The one problem, Robert Kim, used to have a "(C) by Robert Kim", on the bottom of all his pages. Guess what? That is no longer there. I wonder why Smile So, now we need to do the same kind of linking with the other domains and names that he uses.

If anyone has ideas, feel free to post or private message me.

That is what helps his web sites the most. He doesn't get many people linking to them (which helps with your rankings), he spams Wikipedia. In fact, he is always taking our listings (EVDOinfo.com & EVDOforums.com) and pointing them to his web site (I just reverted it back)

The Verizon noose is tightening, so watch him to jump to Sprint or Cingular.

For the people that are suing him (surprise, there are a bunch), he moved. He is in the same building as before, he just moved upstairs:
