First of all I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for invaluable resource it has been to me the past couple of days.

I am able to connect to Sprint's network using the U720 and Verizon's VZAccess 3.1.0 software on my 12" PowerBook G4! I activated the U720 on my iMac using Bootcamp, and then proceeded to installing Mac.Intosh's drivers as suggested by this forum. However, I was unable to get them to work. No matter what I did, no connection could be established. However, to my utter surprise, Verizon's software allowed me to conect flawlessly! The most interesting aspect is this:

A 604kbit/sec upload rate and a 478kbit/sec download rate. I ran the speed test several times, and the results remained fairly consistent, with the upload ALWAYS faster than the download. I even did some test uploads to my website's FTP server, speeds were 50-75 kiloBYTES/sec.

Testing the U720 in Windows, using Sprint's own original drivers, the results were much different. Downloads exceeded the 1 megabit/sec barrier (as expected with Rev. A,) while upload speeds were at a mere 150-200kbit/sec range..

I tried Verizon's latest VZAccess software, 3.2.0, and it reported that my U720 needed to be activated in order to work. But again, 3.1.0 works!

So to summarize, it is possible to connect to Sprint on a Mac using the U720 and Verizon's VZAccess software, and be able to see connection stats and signal strength. However, the speed is very, very unusual, why this would cause such amazigly high (higher than my home cable internet) upload speeds and such low download speeds is beyond me. Although the upload speed is theoretically possible under Rev. A, it still almost is too good to be true.. Now that the information is out there, I hope others can follow my set up and test to see if they would get similar results.

The test results:

There is related info in the VZAccess 3.1.3 for Mac OS X thread.

As well as on the EVDO Blog.

I have noted similar atypical download and upload rates, especially when using Verizon's VZAM 3.1.3 (which connects fine for me) and their modem script.
