Hello all, I have a couple of very basic questions that I'm sure have been covered months ago, but a search of the forum produces a "Not Found" result.
First, is there a consenus as to an "optiminal" signal? One post I found indicated that if your signal is too good, your performance would degrade. I really don't understand negative values in relation to signal strenght.
Second, the icon in the task bar goes from green to yellow, then back to green, throughout the session. It does'nt appear that the signal strenght changes. I assume that green is good, yellow is not-so-good. Correct?
Lastly, what software is everyone using to track and keep up with their bandwidth usage? Any free ones?
I am currently using a U720 with my desktop indoors, 4 to 5 bars, set EVDO only, about -74 dBm
On a side note, I just wanted to say that after after six and a half long years of satellite internet (DirecPC, DirecWay, WildBlue) I am extremely happy with SprintPCS. Also, it's great to be able to visit this forum with all the good info, and not just a bunch of folks complaining about FAP.
Thanks everyone! |

I am also a new user, and have the same question...

As I signed up for the "unlimited" (crossing fingers, as I am using for my home, too). I see no reason to monitor my usage.

Indoors, in the laptop using the Y-cable, I get rev A signal of -79 dBm to -83 dBm. I don't think they have officially rolled-out rev. A to my area (Madison, WI), and I am topping out at ~1300Kbps download, ~180Kbps upload.

Sounds familiar. I had one-way sat, Direcway (DW6000, then DW7000), and Sprint is awesome in comparison. The sat. latency drove me crazy!
...now if only I could get more than 480Kbps download out of the Kyocera KR1 (he said, patiently waiting for a firmware update...) |
