Computer freezes when the New Hardware Found says "Found Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller".

I had success on my 6 year old Compaq Presario 1700 so I know the KPC650 is OK.

The Sony has:
Ricoh R/RL/RT/RC/5C475 (ii) R5C520 PCMCIA Adapter
BIOS R0061G2

The KPC650 has the latest firmware CG1006.

VZAccess Manager 5.7.7

Any ideas or is this card not compatible with this Sony?

May 2007 update:

I was not able to get the Kyocera KPC650 to work with my Sony PCG-V505EXP so the guys at Booster Antenna.com exchanged it for a Novatel V620 within the 2 week test period. I have had no problems with the V620 and am very happy with the service I get.

They also exchanged the adapter cable for the booster antenna I purchased and using the booster antenna always produces and extra one or two bars of signal strength.
