|
|
Hi Everyone... I've finally launched my EVDO card rental service. It's kind of P2P deal. I am the middleman between EVDO card owners who aren't using their cards at the moment and consumers who need EVDO access while on vacation or business trips but don't want to pay for monthly service for one or two years in order to get access.
I'm going to need EVDO owners to sign up if you're interested in renting out your cards periodically.
Thanks,
Dan Sherman

Question for you:
1) What would the rental rates be?
2) What if the renter use th card outside the country and incure roaming charges (and not reporting it)?
3) What if the renter use the card to perform illegal transactions like fraud, spam, etc?
4) What if the renter dont return the card?
Lots of issues with that idea. How do you resolve this? |

1) Rates are posted on the site. It's basically $85 per week and $25 a day after that.
2) Renter isn't allowed to use outside the US. The owner should monitor their online account to see that this isn't happening. Also, I believe you can put a block on all usage outside the US market. We're still looking into that.
3) It is being sent to a verified PayPal account address. They are putting up $160 in up front "deposit" to use it. There's really not going to be any fraudulant stuff that happens. It's very unlikely.
4) If the renter doesn't return the card, you have their $160. You cancel the card, but another one and you're done. Payments are only through PayPal and you're only sending to a verified PayPal address. These things are going to be very unlikely to happen. It's not worth the hassle for idiots who might want to game the system.

| Does it violate the Verizon user agreement to do this? Just a question. |

Most likely. So what's your point? Haha!

Let me see if I understand you. You are providing your business model and telling us its very basis is violating the contract with verizon that is needed to conduct the business in the first place. Further, having established yourself as someone with no scruples about honoring agreements and someone willing to cheat those you do business with, you now expect favorable repsonses to your solicitation for people to trust you and enter into business with your fully knowing these traits you possess.
Good Luck. I guess if it doesn't work out then anyone that does so at least can't claim they thought they were dealing with someone honest and got unwittingly duped. I'm a bit at a loss why the "renter" wouldn't just go directly to vzw and take a card and account on the 2 week trial basis at no cost or obligation to themself. They then just pay for the actual data use and return the equipment to vzw and cancel the account. Thereby getting up to 14 days for $80. And they get nice new equipment along with verizon tech support to get it up and running. _________________ Did you ever stop to think .... and then forgot to start again? |

I'm sorry. I didn't realize being rude was an accepted standard of communication here on this forum.
I am not breaking any laws. I'm providing a service. Even if renting your card was against the TOS, I'm not the one renting the card out. I'm providing a way for others to do so.
The terms do not specifically state you may not rent your card to others. It is implied, yes, but it isn't explicit as far as I can tell.
This is not cheating Verizon. There is only one person using the card at one time. If you let your friend use your laptop and he surf's the web using your EVDO card, are you in violation of the terms? Technically, probably. But your INTENT isn't to defraud Verizon. That's the same here. You're not allowing someone else to do something illegal with your account. You're allowing someone else to do the same thing you'd be doing if you had it with you. Only it's with someone else.
I'm offended that you've accused me as being dishonest. I am NOT dishonest. If you have ever gone over the speed limit, you're about as dishonest as I am.
You're obviously not someone who understands people and business. Most people would rather not hassle going through signing up with an account only to cancel it. Actually, if you did so, just to get the free usage, this would be just as "dishonest" if not more so, than what you are accusing me of. It's like buying a suit to wear to the prom and then returning it.
Please do not respond to this. I do not wish to communicate with you unless it's preceeded by an apology. You don't know me and you are accusing me of things that I am far and away, not.
Regards,

Whoa! Hold it here. You got a few intelligent questions, and one criticism. |

You try being called dishonest and someone with no "scruples." That doesn't sound like one "criticism" to me.
