I have seen a link here somewhere for a free web site to do a speed test to measure the speed of your downloads. Can anyone tell me what that address is? I'd like to test my Sony TX 17P and see what speeds I am getting. _________________ SonyTX17P&UX90S |

OK. I found it myself on this site in another thread. Speedtest.net. I did the test and got 1236 download and 138 kbps. Is that rev a speed? _________________ SonyTX17P&UX90S |

Nope, that would likely be Rev-0
Are you trying to determine if built in EVDO device is capable of Rev-A or if the area you are in has EVDO Rev-A coverage? |

Hi Alex,
Well the built-in evdo is supposed to be rev a capable, but I heard here that it can't be until Sony puts out a firmware upgrade for the sprint connection manager comparable to the one sprint put out. I think almost 1300 kbps upload is pretty fast isn't ? I think that might mean it has rev a. I just got this laptop like 3 weeks ago. Sony has their own proprietary wireless manager called "SmartWi Connection Utility" that is quite different in appearance to the sprint one... _________________ SonyTX17P&UX90S |

1300 is very good, and could very well be Rev-A... but in almost every case of Rev-A download bandwidth, users see better than 200kbps upload speeds, and yours is short of that. its why i think you aren't Rev-A.
now, your laptop may in fact have Rev-A hardware... i don't know.
but you need hardware AND network to see Rev-A speeds.
where are you, exactly? have you checked sprint static maps for Rev-A? |
