Hello everyone, I've been lurking around combing through the threads looking for a solution for my problem. Perhaps I'll have better luck by posting it.
I have WidowPC Sting 517D running XP
A few months ago, I purchased the Novatel s720 card, and much to my dismay it did not fit into the notebook's expresscard slot. So I buy LinkSys WRT54G3-ST router envisioning a happy ending. The router connects OK to the notebook, but the Sprint Connection Manager does not see my card plugged in the router. I call Sprint and they tell me I have to activate the card in a computer with a PCMCIA slot. So I borrow a fellow co-worker's notebook, activate the card, return to my notebook, and stick the card in the router. Now I have an internet connection, however, the connection manager still sees an empty slot. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the LinkSys and Sprint software. I thought the recent Sprint Connection Manager update would help. No. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. |

Sprint PCS Connection Manager can only "see/talk to" the S720 PC Card when it is present in the computer's PCMCIA slot, if the computer has one. Connection Manager will not find a card over a network cable or Wi-Fi. It doesn't work that way.
Same case for Verizon VZAccess Manager. It can only communicate to EVDO PC Cards in the local PCMCIA slot (or ExpressCard34/ExpressCard54 slot, in the case of the Novatel V640 ExpressCard) |

| Thanks! I believe I'll do away with this card, when the Sprint ExpressCard comes out. |
